Why was sin permitted? (Let's have a good discussion)

It would testify that with the existence of God's government is bound up the well-being of all the creatures He has made. Thus the history of this terrible experiment of rebellion was to be a perpetual safeguard to all holy beings, to prevent them from being deceived as to the nature of transgression, to save them from committing sin, and suffering its penalty." Is it just me or do you folks ever feel like mice in a laboratory experiment?  

Now don't take this comment as a derogatory remark towards God because that's not my intent.  However, humanly speaking, I feel like I'm in an experiment gone bad.

reminds me of a comment I read this morning:  "What if our universe is just an alien child's science project sitting on a shelf, for which the teacher gave a 'C-'?"

Please don't take this as a derogatory question Pam, however the presence of Love (We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is Love, and all who live in love live in God,and God lives in them.) 1 John 4 seems to beg the question, how could anyone who has that fact fulfilled in their life, entertain any other possibility that His (Gods' clear Word) is and ever will be true, as a matter of eternal fact.

   31So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” 33They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”

Accepting Jesus as Friend, leaves no room for other than His will to be accomplished to those who freely choose it.

Desire of Ages, chapter 79 has relevant information.

By a life of rebellion, Satan and all who unite with him place themselves so out of harmony with God that His very presence is to them a consuming fire. The glory of Him who is love will destroy them. {DA 764.1}

 

At the beginning of the great controversy, the angels did not understand this. Had Satan and his host then been left to reap the full result of their sin, they would have perished; but it would not have been apparent to heavenly beings that this was the inevitable result of sin. A doubt of God's goodness would have remained in their minds as evil seed, to produce its deadly fruit of sin and woe. {DA 764.2}

 

But not so when the great controversy shall be ended. Then, the plan of redemption having been completed, the character of God is revealed to all created intelligences. The precepts of His law are seen to be perfect and immutable. Then sin has made manifest its nature, Satan his character. Then the extermination of sin will vindicate God's love and establish His honor before a universe of beings who delight to do His will, and in whose heart is His law. {DA 764.3}

God did not stopped the sin right away because He is the loving God. He given us a free of will and want us to choose to obey Him voluntarily. By "letting" the sin be, we can see how terrible the consequences are. With this, we will never want it to reign in in life. That's the reason only those truly loving the Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. Weak human given the power to win over sin by the power of God. And "letting" the sin be prove that God is a just God unlike what the satan claimed.

Didn't God know before He created Lucifer that he would eventually rebel against Him and become His adversary?  Yes!  

Then why did God create him?  That's the big question....

Somewhere in time Lucifer resisted the above concept and thereby ceased to be a receptacle of God's Spirit. His mind became darkened and his thoughts became self-centered. He became bent-to-self....

"The result of the eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is manifest in every man's experience. There is in his nature a bent to evil, a force which, unaided, he cannot resist." Ed 29

And that's a good sign. I would definitely question whether a person was HS inspired if they were totally comfortable in this earth's societal atmosphere
