Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 9, 2016 Moderators Posted October 9, 2016 This is q question about election to office. It is not about politics or the political party of the candidates. 1) California has one office open for election to the U.S. Senate. 2) Two people are on the ballot for election to that office. Kamala Harris, a Democrat Loretta Sanchez, a Democrat No Republican is on the ballot for election to that office, nor is any other candidate. 3) Regardless of whether Harris wins election, or Sanchez wins the election, the elected person will be a Democrat. 4) How is this possible? Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 9, 2016 Members Posted October 9, 2016 from what I recall, California now uses a "top two" in their primary elections... so if the top two winners were both Democrats, then the winner will, of course, be a Democrat.. (not sure I agree with a "top two" idea... seems like it could split a party...) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 9, 2016 Author Moderators Posted October 9, 2016 Pam: Correct. In the Primary race, the Republican candidate did not receive enough votes to qualify for the ballot. Quote Gregory
