From the November 2016 Scientific American.  Page 16.

The crater that forms the right eye of the Man in the  Moon is known as the Imbrium Basin.  It is believed to have been formed by an object which struck the Moon and was some 250 kilometers in diameter. 

To put this in perspective, the object that formed the Chicxulub basin in Mexico was probably 10 kilometers in diameter as was the asteroid that formed the Vredefort Crater in South Africa.
