Those who knowingly reject the life giver invite death -- the wages of sin. God doesn't kill! No the unbelievers choose death because they reject He who has life within Himself.

• Jesus declared, "I am the resurrection, and the life." In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underived. "He that hath the Son hath life." 1 John 5:12.

Here's a good example of how God works:

1] Because unbelief is chosen [rejection of God]

2] Results in Trouble

3] God withdraws

4] Equals His wrath

"My anger [4] shall be aroused against them in that day, and I will forsake them [3], and I will hide My face [3] from them, and they shall be devoured [2]. And many evils and troubles shall befall them [2], so that they will say in that day, 'Have not these evils come upon us [2] because our God is not among us?' [3] And I will surely hide My face [3] in that day because of all the [evil] which they have done, in that [they have turned to other gods] [1]" (Deuteronomy 31:17, 18).

You know, that is a good point. Definitely something that God did. Interesting. But, then, I wonder what people like Mike Klute, who devoted a whole ministry to the idea that God doesn't kill people, would do with that?

One Perspective:

So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance, but he did not inquire of the Lord; therefore, He [God] killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David, the son of Jesse (1 Chron. 10:13, 14).

Did God kill Saul? According to the above you would probably answer yes...but let's look at the rest of the story:

Saul said to his armorbearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it” . . . But his armorbearer would not. . . . Therefore, Saul took a sword and fell on it. . . . So Saul . . . died (1 Chron. 10:4, 6).

Clearly Saul took his own life!!! Then why did God say, "I killed Saul"?

Saul found himself overwhelmed by his enemies, but previous to this he had been slowly hardening his heart in unbelief. Going to the witch was the last act of defiance. He had, through unbelief, rejected the God of heaven!

Since our God does not force Himself on His creation, He, because of Saul's persistent choices had to abandon Saul. The result? Saul killed himself for his enemies had overtaken him.

Who killed Saul? Why Saul killed himself. It is because God is sovereign that God assumes the blame, but the actual blame must be sin or even better it's inventor, Satan.

The thing is this: who is responsible for sin? One of the clear teachings of the Bible is the sovereignty of God. That means that nothing happens in the universe without the permission of God. That’s what it means. God is sovereign. Did God know that Lucifer would sin? Yes. Then why did He create him? That’s one of the big questions.

If God is sovereign, then He has allowed Satan to come in. He has allowed Satan to tempt Adam and Eve. This has created a problem and this was not solved on the cross. Let me give you an illustration. When Adam sinned and God came to visit him, what did he say to God when God asked why did you sin? He said, “This woman, whom You gave....” So upon whom was he putting the blame? On God. Today you will hear it all the time: “If God is love why is He allowing all the sicknesses and problems? If God is love, why is He allowing a drought in America?” These are the kind of questions that have to be solved if the great controversy is to come to an end.

So what does God do? God actually assumes the blame! He assumes the blame until the Day of Atonement. There is a text which I want you to look for, it’s in the Old Testament, where God is speaking. He says, “I have created evil.” You will find many texts in the Bible where God assumes the blame for many things. For instance God said, “I have hardened Pharaoh’s heart.” These texts cause a lot of problems to many Christians. You wonder why those texts are there. Well, it’s because God assumes the blame until the Day of Atonement. Because He’s sovereign and He allows things to happen, He has to assume the blame. Does He assume the blame for a good reason? Yes. But we will not know it until the judgment.

1 Cor 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

True..."the wages of sin is death" or better yet, sin pays in death! I'm not talking of what the Bible calls a "sleep" death...I'm talking of death with no possibility of a resurrection. That's the 2nd death or goodbye to life forever.

Please remember that from Adam to Moses humanity was dying the first death. That's the sting of death! Then what does "the law" have to do with all this, or better yet what does the phrase "the strength of sin is the law" mean?

Yes..."sin kills". That's an all-encompassing statement, but without the law sin can't hold you in the grave. It is the law that gives God permission to abandon you forever! Hence it is the law that demands your eternal death. Paul calls it "the curse of the law."

The good news is that "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us." In Him we have been delivered from the law.

Rom 7:6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
