Thought provoking...Lord of War with Nicolous Cage....made an impact on me...I think I now hate gun runners... Cute, but somewhat unrealisic chick flick...Must Love Dogs.. [i am a John Cusak fan anyway] Biography....Walk the Line....Inlightening insights into the life of Johnny Cash...Depicts life of drugs, but I get the sense that there was a redemption that was alluded to, but never shown. Dr. Shane Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I heard that family members of Johnny Cash were upset with the movie and claim that is not how it happened. It is typical of Hollywood to leave out his life of faith. Any movie or book abouthim that doesn't include his faith is incomplete at best and fiction at worst. He died a very religious man. Moderators Bravus Posted March 9, 2006 Moderators Posted March 9, 2006 I've been watching the first season of Battlestar Galactica lately. Very interesting and enjoyable indeed. Driven by real moral commitments, and by people being put in situations they're not prepared for. Interesting take on religion too. Haven't been in a cinema for a long time because there's just not much at all I want to see at the moment. Last one was Hoodwinked, an animated movie that was a lot of fun. Moderators Bravus Posted March 10, 2006 Moderators Posted March 10, 2006 ....weeeellll.... the original 70s series was produced by a Mormon and has a few rather tenuous links... like the similar sounds of the Planet Kobol (in BSG) and the Star Kolob (in Mormonism). Mormonism, as far as I know, doesn't have 12 gods, as the main characters in BSG do. The show's take on religion is interesting because the robotic Cylons are also highly religious, and they are monotheistic. There are scriptures, prophecies and pastors... Maybe there's a Mormon influence carried over to the new shows from the old ones, but I think it's more in the way of looking for a non-hackneyed belief system than a specific attempt at Mormon evangelism or anything. A young jewish boys struggle to stay hidden and survive in a Polish/Jewish ghetto after his mother and then father are taken away by Natzis.
