U.S. Denominational Racial Diveristy

The above research studies the racial diversity that exists in the religious denominational groups in the United States.

Some 30 groups were rated on a scale that toped out at 10.  The highest rated group rated a 9.1 and the lowest rated group rated a 0.2.

Of the top five rated groups, only the top one would be generally rated as a Christian group.   It rated a 9.1 and was  the . . . . . denomination.  The 2nd Christian group, Catholics, was rated # 6 in the listing.

This study was interesting, however, like many studies it could use a bit of scrutiny to see what is really being found. While it does show a well diversified group in the #1 group, it does really reflect the population. As noted by one commenter:

Agree with those that find issue with the methodology. It seems that the highest rating on the scale should be the ones which have the closest to the same proportions as the overall US adult population.

For example:
Seventh Day Adventist: white 37%/black 32%
All US adults: 66%/12%

In my opinion, the Seventh Day Adventist proportion is not indicative of actual US population.

The commenter had a point, that a truly diverse population of a group would reflect the actual racial makeup of the population being studied. The racial makeup of the #1 group does not reflect the population of the US. Why "minority" populations of group #1 are represented so well in this study and the "majority" population is not as well represented could be the subject of a bit of speculation.

I would be very surprised if the SDAC did not come out as the most diverse no matter what methodology is used because of our emphasis 

on "into all the world" mission.
