bonnie Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 I am sure many did. I was simply curious what the answer was to a question I had. My question didn't go to motivation but because of a statement made by another poster Stan 1 Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
CoAspen Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Who would have thought that a simple post would have started such a fire storm? It was nothing new or condemning. It mearly supported what people have often expressed through out these forums quite often. Questioning what 'moral outrage' is and what can bring it about makes for interesting piece of research. Why would people get upset when the expressed idea was that 'sometimes' the reasoning is not so altruistic. A chance to learn more about ourselves and motives. Gail and Stan 2

Its good to know this as too many have relegated this to the shelf in the back of the closet. I am going to come out of the closet with a little moral outrage whenever God says to. and I see no problem with other forum members doing it when it is needed. Jesus was consumed with the desire for His father to be honored and glorified. our acts of moral outrage unless so motivated and directed will draw attentiuon to ourselves. My question was simply why the angst over certain posters being guilty of what has been said by some and not others. I have yet to see mods, admin and several members take issue with those that mock or accuse in a very unkind way those that hold another viewpoint. Sometimes adding their "own" humorous version of what others believe to the mix.Is it just plain innocent humor or as is plain to see by other posts their disrespect for beliefs of others. Homosexuality was a hot topic for awhile. A simple I believe a homosexual lifestyle is biblically wrong was met very quickly. Accusations of hate, sel righteous hypocrisy would follow very quickly along with absurd comparisons. The dress code issue wasnt any different. How quickly the mocking and totally untrue and absurd depiction of those that believed it is a simple sign of respect followed. Humor, satire ?or have those same posters shown by responses in other topics that is exactly how they view other SDA's? Narrow minded self righteous bigots trying to force their foolish beliefs on others.Barely Adventist was the same. That forum uses exactly the same type of so called humor. Some really take offense at it and for that the ridicule. For me it goes beyond ignorant when that same type of mockery is used repeatedly then excused by "Gee dont you have a sense of humor I really respect your beliefs" I dont believe for a minute that this innocent ,just for fun mocking and absurd depiction would be accepted by many of you if it was used constantly against what you believe. bonnie Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 I believe a homosexual lifestyle is wrong. Being mocked and accused of hate doesnt change that. And that is almost a immediate response to anyone foolish enough to say that. We were raised to believe the way we approached the sabbath and church was important. Not to show off or impress but for reasons most here dont grasp or consider important. That very simple belief by some was met with mockery and scorn for those shallow people out to impress fellow church members. Called humor again and yes reinforced by some admin and mods. Funny and shallow to some obviously, to others a different idea of what respect means. We have different ideas as to what is humor. I personally dont think cruel humor that continously mocks the beliefs of others is funny. If my beliefs are considered shallow by some so be it.i really dont think this same brand of funny would be tolerated very long pointed in the other direction. On the homosexuality issue, I don't think I've seen anyone here who believes God approves of it. I think one of the big problems is that some view the above topics (and others) with a mindset that they've already heard all they need to know — so they aren't open to any intellectual conversation with anyone who wants to investigate societal norms or scientific evidence. I never said it was about approving of homosexuality. It is the hate accusations and mocking of those that make that statement. If you are doubting that go back and reread. Homosexuality is not the issue here. It is the response by many on many issues. Satire is what kicked this off and the condemnation of Gary for his remarks. When it comes to how we live our lives the bible is the ultimate book. As far as the dress issue there is more than one "funny" post. When the mocking posts were brought up they were considered funny enough to double down and repost.Admin and mods that have no problem calling others out for inconsiderate and rude post didnt seem to have a problem with the "doubling down on the funny comparison"to those shallow humorless members. The same opinion in more serious discussions dont leave much doubt to some that the depiction of humorless shallow SDA's claimed to be funny is exactly how they view those being mocked. Society says it is just fine to attend church in any old thing you have. So back to my question. Why the offense taken at Garys post when so many rude judgemental posts are made to depict "those shallow humorless"members that oppose their views. Green Cochoa Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 12 hours ago, Gary K said: Nope. It wasn't sarcasm or satire. It was showing the direct implications of what would be true about Jesus if what rudywoofs posted was actually true. When Jesus ran the moneychangers out the temple, not once but twice, He was showing moral outrage. When He knelt in the dust of the street and began writing out the sins of those who "caught" the woman in adultery He was showing moral outrage. When He pointed out again and again the hypocrisy of the Jewish leaders He was showing moral outrage. When He said it would be better that someone had been drowned rather than having done evil to a child He was showing moral outrage. He did showed moral outrage time and time again. I guess rudywoofs didn't consider that when she posted the quote. When a person is born again and lives within an abiding relationship with God all sense of guilt and shame over their past is gone. And what is more Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to give those people His attributes which includes His hatred of evil, pain and suffering. I guess rudywoofs didn't consider that either. I didn't "like" this simply because of the taking aim at Rudy. The rest I liked. The fact is, Rudy is just quoting someone else's study and using it to make a potentially valuable observation. I might observe, quoting from the Bible, that the study supports the conclusion that "the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jesus was perfect. We aren't. That's the difference. That said, outrage, as Jesus exemplifies, does not have to be selfish. "Be ye angry and sin not." phkrause 1

Jane replies that she is not tired at all, and the attention shifts to her. Dick insists, a little stronger this time, that he really is very tired; shifting the attention back to him. Jane finally allows the conversation to focus on Dick by asking him: "well, how much sleep did you get last night??" Therefore, Dick "wins" in the competition for attention, and Dick ends up dominating in the exchange of conversational practice in that particular forum topic. I asked a question. It is fairly obvious you wont, not cant.if you would answer the question instead of turning it back on me. then you. and Dick would not have to worry about winning the competition Everything you do is based on the choices you make.
