Changing Internet Prices

The news media has reported that major Internet websites track your visits to them and they raise their price if they see that you continue to check the price of a product.

I have been tracking the price of the Blue-Ray/DVD combo price of Hacksaw Ridge on Amazon Prime.

1)  Amazon accepted pre-orders for $24.99.

2) Amazon sold it for $24.99 once it had it in stock.

3) For a few days, last week Amazon offered the combo for $17.99 to Prime members, with 2-day delivered to your home.

4) Today, Amazon is making the same offer as # 3 for $24.99.

NOTE:  It has other offers that differ is some respects and are lower and that are the same and higher in cost.

Do you mean to say that they track the number of views and compare it to the number of unique views and then use that ratio to determine price? Or do you mean to say that they track my own personal viewing history and change prices for me (only) based on what I've been doing?

They track your own personal viewing history and if you keep coming back to look at the same item, they raise the price.

Airlines and hotels have been caught doing the same...  when they do it to me, i open a different browser, sometimes, but not all the time, that works.

Stan, yes, that also is true.  It is fa ily easy for them to do it.  IT should be pointed out that they may not do it and they may not immediately do it.  but, they can. do it.

Using a different   browser is one way to defeat them.  Personally, I have four (4) browsers available for my use.

Another way to defeat them is to  use software that removes your browser cache.    I do this regularly as there are any number of programs that will do it.

I am truly surprised they do this on an individual basis. Truly. 

For the record, I have NOT been tracking Hacksaw Ridge, but the I have the same "offer" you do currently.
