B/W Photodude Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Quote LDE, p282 The crown of life will be bright or dim, will glitter with many stars, or be lighted by few gems, in accordance with our own course of action.—The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 6:1105 (1895). There will be no one saved in heaven with a starless crown. If you enter, there will be some soul in the courts of glory that has found an entrance there through your instrumentality.—The Signs of the Times, June 6, 1892. I have always heard about the stars in our crowns for those for whom we have had an influence in bringing to Jesus, but I have a few questions. 1. I was reading regarding evangelism where the author wrote that the average person who is saved has been contacted 7.6 times before they give their heart to Jesus. So, who gets the star? 2. So, you earned a star for your efforts in bringing someone to Jesus. But what if down the road that person backslides and leaves the faith. Do you lose your star? Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted March 14, 2017 Members Posted March 14, 2017 wouldn't a literal crown with stars or gems be somewhat self-serving in heaven? Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
CoAspen Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Ya, my thought also. I have long wondered ab0ut the authenticity of the song and where that belief came from.....EGW I know, but was it just her personal idea based on the times. It seems to based on the idea of historic 'crowns' with jewels in them. pierrepaul 1 Quote
B/W Photodude Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 Quote Ezekiel 16:17 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, ... Actually, there is in scripture the thought that jewels will be a part of heaven. Perhaps people can today not deal appropriately with adornment, but in the earth made new it seems people will be of a temperament and character that it will not be "self-serving" or a source of pride to be adorned as such. I never liked that song and the implication that there would be some sort of pecking order in heaven, with the "superstars" of evangelism having glittering crowns and some of us with one, two or none, having to live eternity in shame for having not done a greater part in the earthly work.
