The Passover Lamb

I had heard that the Passover lamb got away during the earthquake when Christ was crucified. However, I can't find this anywhere. Could someone shed some light or point me in the right direction?

Also, were tombs opened and people "woke" when He died and again when He rose? So twice? And what happened to both sets of people?

Concerning resurrection  of some saints at Christ's death:

^" At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split ⁵² and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. ⁵³ They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and^[e] went into the holy city and appeared to many people." (Matt:27:51-53).

I could find nothing about others being resurrected at Christs's resurrection.

Just speculation, but I am of the opinion that those resurrected at Jesus' death were among the first fruits of humanity taken to heaven - probably when Jesus ascended.  No firm biblical evidence; just speculation on my part.

Okay I guess that is where I'm just not understanding. It says the curtain was torn, the earth shook and the rocks split the tombs broke open, that was at His death. Then it says they came out of the tombs after Jesus' resurrection. So is that two separate times they rose, or did they raise to life at His death, or raise to life along with Him at His resurrection??? See I'm still confused.

I'm okay with them going to Heaven when He ascended, didn't EGW say something about Him taking trophies with Him?

And I'm still wondering about that lamb.

How could I have missed that?  I guess tombs were opened both times.  I truly didn't find anything on the escaped Passover lamb

I guess my question is, whose lamb are we talking about?? Because obviously every family celebrating Pesach would've had a lamb?? And also the Pesach Lamb would've been on the table and being ready to eat!! Seems to me like this is what's called a "faire tale" no doubt!!

And if we go with this post by JoeMo, it doesn't say anything about anyone coming out of the graves at the crucifixion, but does say that at the resurrection people came out of there graves

I can read it either way.  Not that it's a big deal.  If it's one, the other, or both.  I think the point is, many saints were resurrected.

Do you think they went to heaven with Jesus, or lived to die another day?  I've often thought about the same question with Lazarus.

I've wondered the same thing not just with Lazarus, but with everyone He resurrected and healed. Because when He healed them, they would have been perfect in body at that moment, so did they live longer than the average person?

Liz: There are slight differences in the various translations of this passage.  Therefore, in part one's understanding of it may depend upon the traslaton that one is reading.  I do not think that these verses tell us that there were two times when people rose form the dead--upon the death of Christ and upon his resurrection.  But, I can understand how some might think that this was so.   Rather I will suggest:

1)  At the death of Christ, there was a great earthquake.  At that time a number of graves were opened to view by the public at large.

2)  At the resurrection of Christ, a number of dead people in those recently opened graves were also raised to life along with Christ.

Again, I can understand how one might differ with me.  I can not state that I can prove my thinking.  I can not.  But, I suggest it as a possible understanding of the passage.

Certainly on that Friday, shortly before the Sabbath, the opening of those graves would attract attention.   But people must wait until the Sabbath was over before doing the work to close them again.  But, as of Sunday morning, the graves were empty and they had been resurrected.  I can well imagine that this word got out and about.

Liz, I do not think that when Christ resurrected Lazarus, it was to a perfect body, such as Adam had.  Rather, I would think that Christ brought Lazarus back to the condition of his body prior to his death, but free of whatever condition it was that had caused his immediate death.  So, Lazarus might have lived a little longer than some of the people in his time, but I would not think much longer, and probably well within the norm.

We are promised a perfect body at the resurrection at the 2nd Advent.   No one has been promised it prior to the coming of Christ again.

Now, you may raise the question of Enoch:  O.K.  He was taken to heaven, as we typically understand it.  So, I can grant him perfection in whatever form the translated saints will have in heaven.  But, I do not include those   who remain on Earth in that perfect form.

By the way:   What manner of form will that be?  Will it be as was Adam?  Or will it be different?
