Describe your one closest friend (or tell us if you wish you had one), and why:

It's gonna sound cheesy, I guess (and danytink is gonna hate it!) but Sue, my wife, is definitely my best and closest friend. I'd rather spend time with her than with anyone else in the world, and she's more interesting to talk to than anyone else I know.

Besides her I have two male best friends, Lorne in Canada (his wife attends our church and he does sometimes but he's not a Christian) and Cam in Australia. Both of them are in some ways to the right of me politically, and we have quite different views on a number of things, but we're friends because we respect that, and because we enjoy talking and just hanging out. I haven't been that good about staying in touch with Cam while we've been in Canada, but we'll be living about 2 hours drive from each other, and have videoconference links, when I get back to Oz in a few months and I'm looking forward to that. Cam and I met at high school, so we've been friends for almost 30 years.

My absolute best friend is my husband Mike. thumbsup.gif I'd rather spend time with him than with anyone else icon_smile_sick.gif doing anything else. Even if it just means sitting in the dark listening to him breathe. grin.gif I'm so grateful that he IS still breathing. thankyousign.gif Jesus!

We are very different, but our strengths complement one another well. yahoo.gif We talk about everything. soapbox.gif Sometimes even getting on our soapboxes and a tad excited! We can tell each other our fears, hopes, dreams, and nightmares.

One of our favorite things to do is 'splorin'. dancingman.gif 'Splorin' is the peculiar activity where you take money, a vehicle, wave goodbye to the kids, and pick a direction. The only restriction is being home by Monday in time for work.

He is my support and foundation of strength when I need it. cool.gif He is my cherisher, protector, and friend. thumbsup.gif I am so thankful that Abba has seen fit to draw Mike closer to Himself, and that now, sharing the deepest spiritual changes in each other is a part of our relationship. The battle for Mike is not yet over, but I know who the winner is! untitled.bmp

One thing in particular that I truly enjoy about Mike is walking one step behind him. 1poke.gif

You see, Mike parts crowds like the bow-wave of a ship. They see him coming and just naturally move aside. Following one step behind allows me to walk anywhere without ever being jostled, touched, crushed, stepped on, accosted, or bumped into. peace.gif On the rare occasion when someone steps between us, and he turns to look for me, an aisle directly to him tends to open up. coolhello.gif

Oh... and mustache rubs. I just LOVE mustache rubs.... wub.gif

Probably my boyfriend. I am slowly starting to think I might be able to talk to him about anything and slowly starting to trust that he really does love me. He treats me like I matter and he's always doing kind things for me, whether it's cooking me supper or bringing me a little gift. He is willing to stay in a long term relationship with me even though I've decided to be celibate, so he must really love me. It was his love for me, the way it made him strive to become a better person and made me want to become a better person myself, that I think planted the seed in my heart to make me want to try coming back to God.

Other than him, I don't really have anyone except my kids. They are good friends to me too, especially my son. He is one of my best friends.

I appreciate your connection to your husband, Clio. Two married people walking together in oneness is a beautiful thing. It is evangelism.

I feel the same way about my wife. She is my best friend of 24-years. God has shown me how to care for her heart over the years (I wasn't born knowing how).

As to intimacy with another person, if we can't open our heart to God we will never open it to another person. The enemy knows this and works to lock our heart to a relationship. Each of us were designed by Him to give and receive love. If we can't, there is normally a spiritual issue blocking our heart. I have had the joy of finding this freedom to love.

I wish I could name a romantic connection as Nico & Clio, but ........ However, I am so blessed to have three, who I could not honestly make a choice as to "one" good friend.

My brother: He is always close mentally, not often in distance, supportive, and extremely honest (sometimes I wish I could change that just a tad )

and predictable. No matter how big a mess I make in life he is non-judgmental and takes the attitude, "Well, guess we won't do that again. Will we?"

He makes me laugh and believe in God AND myself.

Secondly, is my son. Only because of the order of age. My brother and son are so close in personality and in their love of family that any description of one would be of the other.

Thirdly, is a very dear friend/cousin. As he is the older of the three, I can say he truly has "always been there"

Through the years we have laughed at silly things, enjoyed much of nature's beauty, cried together, and spent hours just driving, or on the water, without need of conversation.

So while I can refer to my romantic life as the "Trail Of Tears" I have been richly blessed by these three and many more good friends.

I really deeply love my friends, my family, church family and secular friends.

I heard that! Yes, I am a Pollyanna and love it.

I must say that we have only recently begun to walk in oneness. We have been married for over 20 years, but prior to last year, my romantic life with him was a Trail of Tears as Naomi so aptly put it. As Mike has been drawn closer to Jesus, he has learned more how to care for my heart. In ways I never would have thought possible.

I am an introvert, requiring much time alone or with one other to recharge. My heart is Mike's because True Jesus ordained it to be so... and those who know me and who know my story, know that only He could have sustained me for the first 18 years of my marriage.

It is an astute observation you make with regard to spiritual issues blocking the human heart's ability to give and receive love. Even towards a seen human.

A heart where He alone has first place.

My romantic life has been a "trail of tears" as well until just within the past 2 years or so. Don't want to go into details here, sorry -- it's private -- you'll just have to take my word for it. I haven't had the princess' fairytale or anything.

Since I just spent the weekend with my two best friends - thought that I would list them here.

My best girlfriend is my sister-in-law. She was a wonderful friend to me for several years - and then she introduced me to my best man friend - my wonderful husband.

They are so much alike, both sincere loving Christians - and I love them both dearly - and I am very blessed to have them in my life. God really smiled down on me when He sent this sister/brother team to be in my life.
