A Sense of Urgency - By David Gates

Tell them “the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 10.  The first task was to convince the lost sheep of Israel that the time had come.  The leadership of Israel didn’t even know because they were too busy with administration and self-gain. Because of this, they led the nation to reject their only Hope of salvation.  I was recently informed by a Jewish man while in Israel, that they are no longer expecting a Messiah and feel abandoned by God. Some Rabbis have now rejected the Torah as a literal history and teach it only as tradition. Has anything changed?  After 150 years of believing and teaching that Jesus’ coming was imminent, God’s “Remnant people” at the General Conference Session in 2015 voted to remove the word “imminent” from their Fundamental Beliefs, replacing it with “soon.”  While prophetic evidences are rapidly mounting around us that the coming of Jesus is indeed “at the doors”, there is generally silence from administration, pastors and editors on the subject.  “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.” The greatest need of God’s people today is to WAKE UP. In the Most Holy Place Jesus is NOW cleansing the hearts of His people. Your name and my name will now at any day pass before the judgment of the living and the door will be closed forever. From that decision there is no second appeal. We will not know when that happens but our eternal destiny will have been sealed. The door of salvation will then be closed to the majority, yet they will continue “eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage” until the agonizing day when the plagues fall on them. How wonderful it will be to be safely hid in Christ when that door closes. But oh how sad for those that knew the truth but slept through the preparation time. “A sleeping army of Christian soldiers—what could be more terrible?…Those who stand back indifferently in the day of battle, as though they had no interest…might better change their course or leave the ranks at once.” Christian Service, p. 82. “THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND.”  Let us accomplish the mission otherwise we will be found wanting and be charged with the blood of the lost. “Let the gospel message ring through our churches, summoning them to universal action.”  “Lift up your voice like a trumpet…Arise and shine.” The world knows something is wrong. They desperately need the information which we have had for years. “Those who place themselves under God’s control, to be led and guided by Him, will catch the steady tread of the events ordained by Him to take place. Inspired with the Spirit of Him who gave His life for the life of the world, they will no longer stand still in impotency, pointing to what they cannot do. Putting on the armor of heaven, they will go forth to the warfare willing to do and dare for God, knowing that His omnipotence will supply their need.” Christian Service, p. 77. Put away all worldliness. Learn to depend on and follow the Lamb. Accept only Biblical authority on all questions of belief, not the teachings of men. Carefully study the Spirit of Prophecy. It is inspired of God to keep us from being deceived, and grow daily in the reflection of Jesus’ character. Accept His white robe of righteousness (His life for yours Rom 5:10) while He holds it out to you today. Ask Him for it. He will not deny you. It is free.
