The Life of Fred Lee

Fred Lee was a fellow student with me at PUC, who died in March of this year.  Why in the world am  I placing a post about the death of a SDA in a section on SDA theology?  To understand the answer to that question, you will have to read the article.

It will not be easy reading.  It raises very human questions that we often face in our spiritual journey that are not easy to answer.  Some of those answers are neither fun nor are they pleasant.  If you are looking for this, do not read the article.

If you chose to read it, you will likely be challenged with questions for which you may not have a good answer.

I'm sorry,  I can not help but copy a poem that Fred Lee wrote and gave to James Londis, a well-known SDA pastor, on the 60th birthday of  Londis.  That poem is:

A Chronicle of Our Beginnings
It can now be known that our first meeting was at the
Instigation of our rebellious wives who, on the Sabbath Day,
Conspired to forego the rapture of church worship and
Indulge their illicit desire to first purchase and then drink a
Cup of coffee. You and I, priests of our family altars, who
In those days did neither drink nor desire to drink such a
Bitter, forbidden substance, nevertheless chose, in the
Tradition of our father Adam, to go along with the sins of
The wives whom the Lord gave us, rather than sit in lonely
Contemplation through the rigors of another Sabbath School
Lesson. And so, far from the pious protection of the
Worshipping congregation, the four of us communed over
The rising steam from a dark, pagan brew. In that
Unforgettable hour we found a deep and abiding connection
That has transformed into the inexplicable mystery of
Intimate friendship.
                                    Blessed be that cup of coffee.
                                    Blessed be our special closeness, forever.

Probably the most interesting article I have read on Spectrum. And I was curious to know more about Fred Lee. Luckily, he is well represented on Youtube. So, if you are interested in healthcare, you may like these two Youtube videos. The second one has much the same as the first, but is shorter. The first is a TED presentation. Both worth seeing.
