The Effects of Love

The Bible says that God is love. How does that touch you?

As I think of the most loving times I have known in my life, I am filled with warmth and peace. I do not know why so many wreak havoc on others when love and joy and peace are so rewarding to the soul.

i forget how my selfishness brought so much pain, since i have been learning to be gentle and honest, and experience the power of god"s love in my heart.  I was blind and now i see, though i see dimly.  and when i fail to exercise faith, i am appalled how i can so easily return to my small ways, and lost patience and bring pain to others instead of light and love, the very power of God.

There is no reason why, to selfishness.  Selfishness is it's own unreasonable reason to control others to get what the heart desires.  i am not the source of life, but sad to say in my humanity i can blindly uproot, and not give life again, and leave wreckage.  we live a short life, hopefully long enough to learn our ways are not God's ways, our thoughts are not God's thoughts.  Isaiah 58 says, 

“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
    with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
¹⁰ and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
    and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
    and your night will become like the noonday.
¹¹ The Lord will guide you always;
    he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
    and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
    like a spring whose waters never fail.

This points to socially acceptable harm... pointing the finger... Instead of giving grace we naturally give criticism, condemnation, and consequently absence of love kills.  Malicious talk, the talk of unbelief, disparaging those around us, depriving them of hope and the assurance they need to grow and rise as God's children.  To obtain our desires and to seek our will is not the same as seeking God's will.  but we would make it so in our own mind.  We so easily in our selfish nature justify ourselves in being unloving.

Jesus said when you hate you kill.  Tests have shown hatred to harm a person more then just physical blows.  Harsh words strike more deeply to the mind and spirit than a physical blow.

yes,  we can learn loving ways, and be puzzled how sin operates when there is a great kind merciful loving God.  It operates in the dark, only when the light of love is shut out.

It says children obey your parents in the Lord, and father's do not exasperate your children.  Exasperated children disobey.  Our heavenly Father is not the source of those forces that leave us unloving and disobedient.  We indeed are weak, but He is strong, and we can be strong only in the strength of the Lord.

I have a million things to say on this Topic.

But, for now, I want to tell a True Story.

 

Frederick Lehman wrote a Hymn called "The LOVE of GOD" but for the third part of the song..

 “had been found penciled on the wall of a patient’s room in an insane asylum after he had been carried to his grave.” -Frederick Lehman

My heart burst in tears when I first read this a few months ago ..for it is the third part for which that I made a MEME ..the only one i ever made a few years ago for my facebook wall !
