My brother did his 2 years with the Whitecoats. Its funny, he didn't ask for that and got it!! I asked to be part of that and/or printing and was told the Whitecoats were no longer available and neither was printing. Since than I found out that that was not true!!

I do not challenge what you have said.  I am aware of some strange things that happened in connection with Whitecoat.

However, officially:

*   Participation was limited to Seventh-day Adventists who were formally Conscientious Objectors, and  who went through Basic Training at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, and requested assignment to Whitecoat.

*  After assignment to Whitecoat, one had to volunteer  for a specific experiment.

Yes I knew that, and I did all of that, but God had other plans!!

On a personal note:  When I went through enlisted Basic Training at  Ft. Sam Houston, we had a formal presentation of Operation Whitecoat and were given an opportunity to apply.  I submitted a formal, signed, document and stated that I did not want to be assigned there.  I was called in for a one on one talk and was informed that I would not be allowed to join  Operation Whitecoat if I changed my mind!

I have learned from this 36 minute video.

*  Project (Operation) Whitecoat contributed to sending that Apollo Astronauts into space.

*  I contributed to a peace agreement in the Mid-East.

This is a story that needs to be told within Adventism.

One might say that Christianity is the only religion that prepares people for heaven.  But, that is because the Christians understanding of an after life differs from that of a  non-Christian religion.  But, many non-Christian religions prepare people for an after life.

Any suggestion that Adventism is the only sect within Christianity that prepares people for an after life is certainly subject to rebuttal.

While this may be a side-track of the central theme of this thread, let us remember the definition of the words that we use:

Religion:  Religious scholars, generally consider there to only be about a dozen world-wide religions, of which Christianity is one.

Sect:  A sect is a valid group within a religion that differs in some manner from other groups within that religion, but maintains core elements of that religion.  Protestantism is one such sect within Christianity.  Adventism is one sect within Protestantism.

Cult:  A cult is a group that claims to be within a major religious group that differs on core values in a manner that it could be debated as to whether or not the group is actually a part of that   major group.  The Branch Davidians, formerly led by David Koresh, is one example.

 

Now, back to the theme of this thread, please, which is Whitecoat.
