Stan Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 A long awaited update to this software should be announced over the next couple of days. This has a number of bugs, and has not grown in features for a couple of years. Other forum software has significantly jumped over this software. One of the irritating bugs to me, is the thread views. I have seen 20+ people viewing a thread, (after the this week goes out) and it might only show 2-3 views. Moderators Nan Posted March 31, 2006 Moderators Posted March 31, 2006 That sounds good, Stan. Can I add a feature I would like to see - if I am starting a new topic, and forget to title the submission, the whole gets wiped if I click on submit. Is there some way to save what has been done even if We cannot proceed. All the required fields are not filled in ? A FRUSTRATED MEMBER Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted March 31, 2006 Moderators Posted March 31, 2006 I have a feeling that Firefox saves the content of the field so you can go 'Back' and not lose it, but Internet Explorer doesn't. What browser do you use? Edit: OK, I just tested this with both browsers and I was wrong: you lose the post body with either. If it's impossible to change the behaviour, it might be possible to either have a big red flashing 'HAVE YOU TITLED YOUR POST YET?' message, or to set it up so that there's a 'placeholder' title placed in the box automatically just in case... (this last is fairly simple). Quote Truth is important
Norman Byers, N.D. Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Hi Nan Quote: if I am starting a new topic, and forget to title the submission, the whole gets wiped if I click on submit. I remember, on more than one occasion typing a long reply to someone and then hitting the back key on my mouse by accident.(I have one of those roller ball mice) Then I'd hit the forward button on the other side of the mouse and everything was gone! After doing that a few times I used MS Word and then copied and pasted it on CA. But it was fustrating when that happened. Which would also apply to Norm's suggestion of copying from Word..... each time it happens I remind myself what I should do, but it still happens. Moderators Bravus Posted March 31, 2006 Moderators Posted March 31, 2006 The 'placeholder' thing would require no behaviour change (which is why I like it!) It would just mean you'd end up with a post titled 'Title goes here' or whatever, and be able to edit to fix that, but at least not lose the body of your post. Quote Truth is important
Fran Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I am anxious to see the new. It is badly needed. Fran Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 What is the projected date. A Few days have already passed without an announcement. I can't wait to see it.
