AP now caught in CNN-like scandal

The Associated Press has now been caught in manufacturing a news event that never happened.  It alledged Scott Pruitt of the EPA and the CEO of Dow Chemical had a supposed secret meeting in which sundry  nefarious arrangements between the two of them took place.  Only problem is, the meeting never took place.  The entire news report was fabricated. 

There is no left wing media bias, right?  The MSM routinely fabricated reports trying to make Obama look bad.  Right?  No bias, only even-handed reporting.  Right?

Gary your statement that the AP manufactured a news event and that the entire news report was fabricated is, as I understand your cited reference, is false.   The quote below was taken from your citation.

First, the source for the AP story was an EPA schedule.  IOW, the AP did not manufacture it.

Second, there is a clear statement that the two people did have a brief introduction in passing, even if not a discussion.   This makes your statement that the entire report was fabricated false.

I have taken the above from your reference to a report by Breitbart.  I Did that due to your use of them as suggesting that you believe them to be reliable and your own source says tha your are wrong.  However, as you might say, there are some who would say that Breitbart is not considered by many to be reliable.  So, I have checked out the two facts that I have listed above and there are other sources that confirm the accuracy of the t wo facts listed above.  

In a story June 27, The Associated Press, relying on schedules provided by the Environmental Protection Agency, reported erroneously that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt met with Dow Chemical CEO Andrew Liveris for about a half-hour at a Houston hotel. A spokeswoman for the EPA says the meeting listed on the schedule was canceled, though Pruitt and Liveris did have a ‘brief introduction in passing.’

Thanks, GM! Going back and researching the 'facts' gets to be rather tireing at times! Not usually accepted either!

Funny how it was Brietbart's reporting that caused the AP to issue a retraction.  If their reporting had not been accurate no retraction would have been issued.  It was, in fact, days before the AP issued their retraction. 

1. The story changed radically. 

2. The reporter wrote up the story without even checking if the meeting had actually happened.  No verification of what he reported that had happened.  Large failure of journalistic ethics.

3. The reporter said what what he assumed had been discussed in a non-existent meeting.  Another large failure of journalistic ethics as he verified nothing.  Since no meeting happened nothing could have been said. 

4.  This is fake news by definition for it is the reporting as fact that which never occured.  .
