Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 8, 2017 Moderators Posted July 8, 2017 Dr. George Knight is one of the finest SDA historians and over the years, he has written a large number of books that relate to issues that the SDA denomination has faced in the past and faces them now and in the future. Recently, he made a presentation at the Unity Conference in London, England. It has been reported that as a result, the Michigan Conference has directed that their ABCs be prohibited from selling dr. Knight's books. The following is a statement that the President of the Michigan Conference has released on this subject: http://www.misda.org/article/256/member-services/administration/president/statement-regarding-abc Here is a further comment on this: https://atoday.org/michigan-conference-toys-with-banning-sale-of-george-knight-books/ and http://spectrummagazine.org/article/2017/07/07/michigan-conference-bans-george-knight’s-books-its-abc-stores The following is the paper that Dr. Knight presented at the Unity Conference to which the Michigan Conference President objected: https://adventistunity2017.files.wordpress.com/2017/06/historical-perspectives-on-ad-view-of-authority-knight.pdf The following are further comments that Dr. Knight has made about his paper at the Unity Conference: https://atoday.org/9-5-theses/ ahttps://atoday.org/george-knight-unions-standing-together/nd Quote Gregory
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 15, 2017 Author Moderators Posted July 15, 2017 Update: July 14, 2017 UPDATE According to a report from a customer that visited the Berrien Springs, Michigan ABC store this morning, a store staff member said that Knight’s books are only back on the shelf until the current stock sells. After the current books are sold the branch will not be allowed to order any further books by the author, though individuals can order Knight’s books and pick them up when they come in. They will no longer be allowed on the shelves. When Adventist Today contacted the store via telephone, staff would not comment on the sale of Knight’s books, pointing instead to Gallimore’s statement as the official line from the conference.
