Outta Here Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Anyone here in the path of Hurricane Irma? I seem to recall "Nuf Sed is in the direct path. At any rate, please remember to pray for the people in Florida who are/will be effected in the next few days. I have many family members who are "waiting it out". They are a stubborn bunch who chose not to evacuate. I appreciate all the prayers! phkrause 1 Quote
aka Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Some just don't have the money for the gas-tank to get full for the evacuation trip north or west of the oncoming hurricane. They also don't have motel money to tie them over until the storm passes. And they are missing the money for the food for the escape trip north or westward. I get real worried for all the animals and pets in this storm hullabaloo. ---------------------------- Heavenly Father, for Aubrey's Florida relatives I pray. I believe in your protection from harm for them. I ask in faith that they listen to your voice in their decisions to stay or not during this weather threat. We all praise you for your guidance in the lives of your spiritual believers who are living in the path of Irma. I ask that they may have the chance to draw the fearful people into conversation about you so they may have a 'God Experience' through this awful time. In the powerful authority of Jesus Christ I ask in faith, believing. JoeMo and Outta Here 1 1 Quote
Members phkrause Posted September 10, 2017 Members Posted September 10, 2017 Yes there are a few of us I believe. At first Irma was going to come up on the east coast, where we live about 30-40 miles from the coast. But each few days it started to move more to the west and now its just about going to go up the west coast. which will make it better for the east coast, especially for Flagler County, which was devastated from Matthew last year. They were just rebuilding the pier, so if Irma went up the east coast, it would've probably had to rebuild the pier again. I was actually praying that God would send Irma up the middle, but really hoping it would go up the west side of Florida, so the east coast would be spared!! If Irma had gone up the middle I think or at least seems it would've weakened more than going up the east or west, the water is what makes it stronger. Anyway "Nuf Sed lives a little more to the west of us, in the Apopka area, which is a little north-east of Orlando. I do believe there are a few others that live around in Florida, but not sure where they are. I do have a few friends that live on the west coast, in the Tampa and further north areas. They will definitely need our prayers. Not sure how much longer we will be able to be online. I'm gonna guess that the power will go out here later in the day and when its back on is anybody's guess!! Could be hours (very doubtful) to a few days (which is more likely)!! So everyone take care and be good, and definitely keep us all in your prayers. We also brought my Mom here to stay with us, she lives alone and just turned 92!! So for now and with Gods Grace we will be safe!! Outta Here 1 Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Outta Here Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 What a day it's been for my mother, grandmother, and cousins! I'm sure it's been a similar day for you as well, phkrause! I pray that the rains slow down and the tornadoes be few and far between. I'm thinking also of the other Adventist churches and schools in the area. Pray for everyone's safety! Quote
aka Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Hurricane season came each year to Staten Island NYC. I never feared it as kid when it got really windy and raining. It was very exciting for me. One time I woke up to heavy adult voices. I was about five years old at the time. The bedroom door was open and I saw how a policeman was walking to my grandfather's room. Mother came to close the door of the bedroom I was in and said all was alright and I should go back to sleep. I believed her fibbing. The truth of the matter was the popular tree had uprooted in the storm and fell on the roof. One of its lower branches crashed through grandpa's window and pinned him to the bed. The shock of it all caused his weak heart (83yrs) to burst a couple of days later, and he died as the result from the shock of having that tree branch burst the window and pinning him down to the bed. Personally, at this stage of my life I do pray (as you all do as well most likely) for a quiet swift death. Painless and with out chronic suffering over a long time. That's the ideal of course and I have no dibs on the right to have such a wish fulfilled. But it's nice to walk in hope that I'll be alive when Jesus comes to pick up the righteous dead and then us living ones. At the old-folks home where my 85 yr old father-in-law lived they went looking for him because of him not showing up for breakfast. Upon opening the door to his room they discovered him sitting at his desk with his head bowed into the book he was reading. Apparently he had had a swift brain stroke and was gone from life in a quiet way. The doctor on call was telling us that he too wished for himself such a pleasant was of passing-on. Members phkrause Posted September 18, 2017 Members Posted September 18, 2017 Well I'm finally back!! We just got our power today, around 11 am. We lost power at 6 pm Sunday, so just short of 7 days with no power!! A friend who got his power back the following day lent us his generator. Thank God, we got to plug in the refrigs and the freezer and save our food. Also was able to plug in a TV and Blu-ray player so the kids could watch DVDs, mostly Vege-tales! My Mom's power came back on Wednesday morning. The Hurricaine was actually a lot less destructive than I imagined, that's not saying that it didn't do a lot of damage. Now I understand we have another one to look forward too!! Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
