The following was posted today on the website of the REVIEW:

There is a growing feeling by people on opposite sides of the several issues that seem to divide the SDA Church today, that we have people in leadership positions who have departed from the teachings of both the Bible and of Ellen White.

Maybe we need a revival in which we have asked God to give our spiritual leaders, both now and at this soon coming conference, the wisdom to clearly distinguish between the truth that God is attempting to teach us and the deceptive falsities of our own bias and the pre-conceived notions that we are tempted to read into the written word.

I believe praying in for a 'revival' is meant to stroke up the life-flames of once believed teaching or the love relationship to God.

There is more to be prayed for.....

Leadership in SDAism needs a conversion away from carnal leadership into a spiritual leadership.

They need a 'born again' experience

Historically, revival has come during and immediately after great hardship and trial.  Throughout the OT, Israel seemed to go through a revival after they had been dominated and persecuted for a few decades.  The early church thrived on the blood of its martyrs.  Look at how many people went through "revival" immediately after 9/1 - churches were packed.  Where are those people now? Look at how many people went through "revival" during and after Katrina?  Where are they now?  How many people prayed like crazy during Harvey and Irma?  How many people quit praying when Irma wasn't as catastrophic as predicted (still one of the worst storms in history).  Do we ask why God allows such things; or do we thank God for the miracle of turning the full potential wrath of Irma away from the most developed and vulnerable parts of the state?

This sounds horrible; but I think we need the tribulation to start to inspire true revival.  When we - the church - are so hard pressed that we have nowhere to turn but to God, there will be revival.  people my age and younger in the western world have never experienced true catastrophe, war, chaos, and persecution.  Many in our society say "We're doing just fine on our own, think you very much. I am increased in goods and in need of nothing. God doesn't bring anything to the table for me - I'm succeeding on my own".  Just like the ancient Israelites, "...everyone did as they saw fit." (Judges 21:25).  Isn't most of society doing this now; and teaching the next generation to do the same thing?

While it,s seldom safe to say "Everybody is doing it." it does seem as if no one is asking them self "Where am I guilty of hindering the revival and what can I do to start it?

7Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. 8Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. 9For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.….Psalms 37
