A response is made which also offends the other person. I don’t have a woman in my life that I can delegate this to… where would I get such a thing.” the whole argument surrounded the above comment... When I was reading the article, it never even *dawned* on me that the above comment was derogatory to women. Never in a million years would that thought have ever entered my mind. maybe I'm dense... erhmmm... no. I'm just not into keeping an "I'm offended" chip on my shoulders. So many people have one that's attached to a bungee cord, so that the chip can be knocked off, but will return automatically, again and again and again, in perpetua. Outta Here Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 It sure dawned on me. Each of us is different, I suppose. I grew up in a culture of women marching for equality. I spot sexist remarks a mile away. While this article says it wouldn't have been a big deal in face to face conversation, I beg to differ. *I* would have been offended even then, and had my sister and sister-in-law been there with me, they'd have been offended as well. Still the outline of taking the offense to one another in private seems better than airing it for all the world to see. Quote

And people who are *not* offended by a statement or a word that others see as "sexist," does not mean they are less socially concerned, or that they have no interest in being treated respectfully.
