Notes: 1) Active U.S. military have a similar tax exemption which is not affected by the ruling of that judge. 2) On a personal basis, while employed as a civilian employee of the Department of Veterans Affairs, I, by an internal IRS ruling was NOT allowed such a tax exemption. 3) The actual provisions of the IRS ruling that gave clergy the tax exemption were complex as its application especially for clergy who were not congregational pastors.
