Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 12, 2017 Author Moderators Posted October 12, 2017 The 747s are probably flying out of a restricted airport (McClellan) in the Metro-Sacramento area. For those who will tell me that McClellan has closed: Yes, you are correct, in part. It remains open to Cal Fire for use to fight fires and for other occasional use. But, it is not open for public use. phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 14, 2017 Author Moderators Posted October 14, 2017 The 747s are flying out of McCellan, along with some smaller aircraft. Four (4) aircraft, if the right size, can be refulled and loaded with fire retardant at once. The 747 can hold 18,000 gallons of fire retardant. Quote Gregory
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 14, 2017 Members Posted October 14, 2017 that 747 is what so many of us wanted to see being used on Oregon's Eagle Creek wildfire, and Ms. Governor refused..
