Passports

The news medial has recently reported on a person who is reported to have had, possibly, as many as ten (10) valid passports.  People have wondered how it is that someone could obtain more than one passport.

My first thought was that I could think of three different types of passports and that indeed a person could have more than one of those types.  I remembered that once I held two (2) different, valid, U.S. passports at the same time.   So, I looked it up on the Internet.

*  I found Internet sites that claimed multiple types of passports.

*  The official U.S. website states that there are four (4) different types of U.S. passports.   One was new to me:

Official:

Diplomatic:

Passport Card:  This has very limited use.

NOTE:  I have held both a Regular and an Official passport at the same time.
