Well, for once I agree with many of the comments to this article on the Spectrum site. Not a book I would be interested in reading. I pretty much do not read, watch, or listen to anything that comes from 3ABN. There are plenty of other good books to read with authors more trustworthy to listen to.

I wasn't meticulous in spotting all the particular basic ideas presented by the book but what I did pick up on was his adherence to using scripture for accepting certain tenets of faith. How much one believes in the Truth of the Word might have a lot to do with our satisfaction with brother Shelton's conclusions.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness...

Of course if one cannot accept that measure of faith it would appear untenable to accept Brother Shelton's platform.

It is possible you are right, but then maybe not. A person's past may affect how much time you will even give to considering what he might say. I think there have been events alleged to have occurred that disqualify him from me spending any time considering what he has to say. There are plenty of others who also believe in the word and have a known character that would lead me to consider what they have to say.

If that is your strongest reason for disqualifying him, I wonder how much of the Words of King David to which you adhere. Perhaps reading Psalms 51 might be worthwhile.

Do keep in mind that King David was spoken for by God when he was declared to be a man after His own heart. I have not heard that regarding the prior mentioned individual. There is even a verse written in the OT regarding King David where it said he was perfect except for that incident with Bathsheba.

Unfortunately, the drama over at 3ABN occurred over quite a period of time and involved many events that really concern me. So, I do not feel I will be missing any vital spiritual info by just reading my Bible, SOP, Adreasen, Gilbert, Waggoner, Jones, and the list goes on. But perhaps you could enlighten me. What is really that important that I must read stuff put out by 3ABN employees that no one else is sharing?

I have been thru ABCs and other book stores and see row upon row of books to read. I sometimes wonder if even half of them needed to be written. I don't have time to "consume" all the religious literature that is out there. So, in shifting out the useless, ya gotta start somewhere.

David didn't do so good even without Bathsheba as he had five or six other  wives during His relationship with His Father in Heaven. It is always good to pay attention to the reality that God came to save sinners, and He uses those who admit their limited capacity.

Praise God He doesn't consider any without use to Himself. OTOH you make a good point and if you find one useless to God, you might remind Him. The scribes and the pharisees did their best and it led to the cross.

Violating the rule of having more than one wife is it's own punishment!

Reminding someone about being useless to God is not a place I want to go to.

Folks:  This is not the time for this forum to re-litigate the issues of 3ABN and Danny Shelton.  In posting the announcement of his book, I thought  that it would be of interest to people in this forum.  It was not my intent to give new life to a discussion of those old issues.  So, let us bring to a halt that aspect of the discussion.  If that does not happen, this thread will have to be closed.

If you wish to discuss, please focus on the book and its message and not the alleged character of the author.

The article that I referenced was critical of the book--fair game.  It was critical of  author of the book as to his writing  and coverage of the subject--fair game.

The article that I referenced did not attempt to revive the ancient issues as to 3ABN and Danny Shelton.

I am simply saying that those issues are not to be up for discussion in this forum.  Probably most of the people reading here will understand what I am talking about.  So, I do not intend to be specific.

IOW, critique the book, good or bad, if you wish, as to what the book says.  Critique the coverage of the subject material, if you wish.  Praise the book if you so evaluate it.  Just  do not get into some of the stuff of the past.

I often post a reference to something without making any statement about it, except to write a title.  One of  the reasons  that I do such is because Is believe that people are fully able to evaluate and to form their own opinion.

This was one of those occasions.

Yes, I am aware that some might consider it to be advertising.  There is a fine line on advertising.  In this forum we do not want people to attempt to sell or raise money for pet projects through their posts here.

But, I do post notices of materials that are available to interested people, which do not result in any funds coming to me.   E.G.  I  sometimes list available books that some might be interested in purchasing, or DVDs.

I listed Shelton's new book because I thought that some might be interested in it--some positive and some negative.  In listing it, I have not given my personal evaluation of it.  Interested people can develop their own opinion.

If one pays a lot of attention to the way things go down in the Word, I know of no major players He chose to use in working His will out, who did not have their faults. Their redemption was in their ability in being quick to repent. I'm even satisfied that if Judas had chosen that route, instead of blaming others for the failure of his efforts he wouldn't have been inclined to hang himself and we could have seen him in the Kingdom.

Perhaps it,s just a sad matter of "would've, could've. should've.

So, because some of the people God chose to use in working His will had faults, are you suggesting that everyone be given "carte blanch" for questionable behavior?

Where do you draw the line in accepting bad behavior?

And if you see really bad behavior going on, do you just keep your mouth shut because you have done all you can, or you shouldn't get involved, or you like the person and you don't want to hurt their careers in church work?
