Of course history is not a defense. Rape is wrong whether Bill Clinton got by with it or not. No one has ever said otherwise.

Those that become so incensed and appalled at sexual deviancy by conservatives and were alright with sexual deviancy by liberals is the problem. With those like Bill Clinton it was "naughty behavior" but really no ones business what he did in the Oval office or with or to women while holding public office. Everyone knew and accepted his behavior prior to voting for him,you know he could still be a good president. You as well as others have said that you don't give Bill Clinton or those like him a pass,but you do.   Dismissing those that came forward as adults so doesn't really count . I doubt whether they consented to be "raped" and of course you and others should believe them as you do any accuser of a conservative. Recently it was said  on this forum concerning Moore that where there is that much smoke there is fire. That has never applied to those like Clinton.

If sexual deviancy should be a reason to have a political figure step down,and I believe it should,then it is for all. Not going to happen ,especially with the selective moral outrage. 

If you only rail against certain ones,believing only the accusers of those you don't want in office,your disgust at sexual deviancy is phoney.

 If you and "some others" on C/A believe that all those coming forward are telling the truth,why not believe those that came forward concerning Bill Clinton and other liberals.

Claiming to believe all women or most women that come forward and accuse someone of sexual abuse and then picking and choosing which to believe doesn't say much for the moral outrage so many like to show.

I recall reading one comment from a leader of the National Organization of Women in which she stated she would do for Bill what Monica did if it would protect abortion rights! I don't believe it is necessary to print her name, but I know it.

Had it not been for the women it is doubtful Bill Clinton would have had a second term. Their concern for women that were victims of sexual assault and rape was so great they voted in large numbers for a second term. Those that are so incensed and appalled only when it suits their agenda are not that much better than the abuser.

The OP set himself of as judge and jury declaring the guilt of Moore based on decades old accusations. Maybe he is. We have far better reasons to believe Clinton is a rapist,yet those were just adult women.

A consistent attitude towards sexual abuse is relevant.Do you still believe your own previous statement of "Where there is so much smoke there is fire" Then you believe Clinton is probably a rapist. Kennedy was a revered ploitician by many and among other things liked. a waitress sandwich and is responsible for a young woman losing her life.If this country and several here would vote for keeping men like this in office and yet show so much concern and unwavering belief in the guilt of some accused it is selective moral outrage. The other poster sat as judge and jury earlier on Moore. He did it pattern of behavior. Jdgements by the Do not judge crowd. The attitude concerning the actions of some like Clinton and Kennedy is relevant and very telling.That selective attitude and moral outrage is alive and well.

I believe that the climate in the U. S. is changing.  Greater numbers of people are beginning to believe and take seriously the claims of people who are coming forward.  I am glad to see that.

That really isn't the point. The behavior of those like Clinton Kennedy and others was KNOWN prior to their election or re-election. It wasn't a question of believing the women,it was known and accepted, but not known and accepted behavior for all. Only select ones. Long before Monica the voters were aware of  Bill Clinton and his behavior,same for Kennedy. Known,accepted and approved of by re-electing them.

Now everyone in MN is acting appalled that Al Franken is the next one to be accused and want him to step down,WHY. He was the favorite crook of MN  liberal voters. Most popular bumper sticker,"Vote Franken he is a crook but is our crook" He was a sleezy sexually in appropriate comedien with a reputation that preceeded him. Now that is has become almost epidemic to report sexual abuse, lying or otherwise now they care. How nice.

Why should he step down,MN knew who and what they were voting into office.
