Living in a tent doesn’t make one perfect or righteous. But because he is humble and following God, he is not ostentatious. Therefore living by simple means seems to fit. What do you think?

We agree on that! I guess my point would be that using  the word "plain" to translate that Hebrew word is misleading. Certainly plain indicates what you say it does; however, would you be comfortable describing Job as a simple man rather than a perfect man? In today's terms, he would be described as a millionaire. He was highly respected in his community. People were in awe of him. He really wasn't a simple man in the sense that, say, John the Baptist or Elijah were.

Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

as Bible describes Job, seems like he is a just man compared to others. Also we know how Satan attacked him and he remained faithful!!

Other versions such as the WEB and the NRSV use the words "atoning sacrifice" instead of propitiation:  "In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins."  The Day of Atonement in Leviticus 25:9 might be considered the Day of Propitiation if the Greek Old Testament is consulted.
