An asked Question, what is your answer?

As a magazine editor I  get asked questions for our columnists to answer

here is one I got yesterday, I am respecting the privacy as requested

In a world saturated by sin, including sexual sin, is there a way for single people, and those in relationships, to navigate hormones, thoughts, feelings, and affection, while still remaining pure? Since God made sex to be a beautiful special thing, is it wrong to desire it, think about it (within the confines of marriage) yet not participate in it, until it would be holy?

One thing I imagine would help is to help young people in high school become employable immediately upon adulthood.  The sooner they have the ability to provide for a family, the sooner they can pursue starting one.

this is a struggle not just for  younger people but all  people that are single of all ages

my suggestion is that when emotions=== hormones===thoughts===affections===come up in your mind

that you  ask the HOLY SPIRIT to come in your mind=====a person may fall to temptation but if they

will continually keep asking the HOLY SPIRIT  then  this can be over come

I, personally, think that a person shouldn't dwell on "what it might be like if..." That sets expectations that rarely are met (sometimes exceeds expectations, sometimes falls short). It's better to use the brain cells and energy on other things.

As usual, I will present my contrarian view.  While I agree that obsessing about sex (real of fantasy) is unhealthy from both a physical and spiritual standpoint, when Jesus presented that lusting after another in your mind is just as evil as the physical act, He was presenting a standard that most would agree is impossible to meet.  True, when we realize what we are doing or have done, the regret and repentance comes into play.  But the standard of it never entering my mind outside of the confines of marriage has proven to be a standard too high for me.  While I have been 100% faithful to my wife of 35 years, I can't honestly say that lustful thoughts don't ever enter my mind when a beautiful and sexily dressed woman catches my eye.  It's impossible to avoid those situations in today's society. Not saying I'm proud of it, just stating my experience throughout my 68 years of life.

Another question concerning this subject is the difference between temptation and sin?  When does thought along sexual (or several other ) lines cross over from temptation to sin?

The standard set by Jesus tells me that I will never meet the qualifications through my own strength of will; and I NEED Him as my Lord and Savior; both to save me from my iniquity and to guide me onto righteous paths or I am doomed.
