Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 17, 2018 Moderators Posted March 17, 2018 Two SDA males have teamed up to moderate a Facebook discussion of modesty. For an interview with one of those males as to what they expect from that group, see: https://atoday.org/why-a-facebook-group-about-modesty/ phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 17, 2018 Author Moderators Posted March 17, 2018 A personal comment from me: 1) Modesty is often equated with erotic. 2) Much of what is considered modest/erotic is determined by culture. IOW, what is immodest/erotic in one culture, is not given a second thought in another culture. 3) Sexual is not always erotic. By their very nature, males and females are sexual. They may not be erotic. 4) Erotic lies in the mind of the beholder. It may not be in the other person. 5) A person who is wearing clothes may be more erotic than they would be if they were not wearing clothes. 6) While I am not saying that the Facebook group does this, we males mostly focus on females when we talk about modesty. Why? I will stop here, but I could probably go on with more. Quote Gregory
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 17, 2018 Author Moderators Posted March 17, 2018 One more comment: Yesterday, I was talking to a well-known SDA clergyperson. During the conversation, that clergyperson mentioned another person who had been offended by an immodest photo of a baby in a diaper! Do I really have to comment on such? As a point of personal disclosure: I have a female relative who as a baby in a diaper was used in an advertisement by a diaper company. As a much older person today, she has not been scared by that prior publication of her in a diaper. Quote Gregory

So that when the girl is sexually assaulted it is her fault? phkrause 1 Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted March 17, 2018 Members Posted March 17, 2018 I agree that nobody should be sexually assaulted, no matter what they're wearing or not wearing. But the fact of the matter is, not everyone has been taught self-control. kinda reminds me of a recent meme making the rounds: "If you don't want people touching your critters, don't make your barn look like a petting zoo." Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
