Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted May 27, 2018 Moderators Posted May 27, 2018 Betsy Jochum was a 5'7" "office girl" when she and several others joined forces with Philip Wrigley, for an eleven (11) year change of occupation. In doing so, she and the others set a standard that has been told in a 1992 movie. Today, the Smithsonian Museum of American History recognizes her achievement. At 97 years of age, she lives in South Bend, IN. In 1948, more than 900,000 people were estimated to be following her. As an"office Girl" she had been paid some $16 per week. In her new position, she generally was paid from $50 to 85 each week. Sometimes her fans gave her small gifts, such as a RCA radio that she received from one. In a period of about 150 days, she and the people that worked with her would present her program about 170 times. Generally they would ride a bus all night to get to the next place. What did she do that set the standard? What was her achievement? Quote Gregory
