Administrators Gail Posted April 25, 2006 Administrators Posted April 25, 2006 New, controversial movie... I just saw the trailer for it and my heart started jumping all over again It's the story about one of the hijacked planes of 9/11 Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
SandyColorado Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I saw an interview with some of the Flight 93 victim's family members - and they are all for this movie. I guess that they had a part in creating it - and want the story out of how their family member fought this evil plot. Quote
Amelia Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I read a statement that the families of the highjackers had requested input on the film but were denied. They are upset as it "unfairly" slants the film towards the passengers being heros and the highjackers being evil. Hummmmmmmmmmm Quote <p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="font-weight:bold;"><span style="font-style:italic;">"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."</span></span> Eph 4:29</span><br><br><img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/weathersticker/gizmotimetemp_both/US/OR/Fairview.gif" alt="Fairview.gif"> Fairview Or</p>

I heard the film is as factual as possible right down to the clothing the people were wearing and conversations they were having in the airport while waiting for their flight. I don't see what could be controversial about it except for the fact that it will remind people of why we are at war during an election year. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted April 25, 2006 Moderators Posted April 25, 2006 Well, I needed to have a different option. I need to say, it's a story which should be told. But I personally can't watch it. --But the reason for that is, there was already a TV show portraying the Flight 93 disaster [can't recall who made it], and I did watch that. That was enough. I just can't bear to go through that event again. So really, I think it's something people should know. Quote Jeannie<br /><br /><br />...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....

We are not going to portray those hijackers as having a noble cause. Quote Riverside CA

SandyColorado Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Me too. I know that this will bring up memories and feelings for all of us. Especially those of us who were involved in the tragedy. I just know - that for myself - it was a day of seeing how God really does take care of us, and how much in control He really is. I can't believe the miracles that He worked in my life that day. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted April 27, 2006 Moderators Posted April 27, 2006 The myth of the SDA connection is factual. I believe that it was his wife who was a SDA. Yes, this connection has been carried in denominational publications. Quote Gregory
Dr. Shane Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 It opens tonight. I am considering going tomorrow after sundown. Critics are saying it makes one relive that day. A percentage of the profits from opening weekend will go toward building a memorial for the heros on United 93. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Kountzer Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 One of the last thing I want to do is relive that day. Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Frederick Douglass
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted April 30, 2006 Administrators Posted April 30, 2006 Quote: Shane said: I heard the film is as factual... Quite true... In fact, today's Washington Post had on op-ed piece by John Farmer, a senior counsel for the 9/11 commission, that noted that, "The film is closer to the truth than every account the government put out before the 9/11 commission's investigation." After citing a number of examples of how completely wrong the official accounts were in comparison to the reality he concludes, "we can watch the movie and wonder at a government so lost in spin that it took Hollywood to set the record straight." Tom Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Dr. Shane Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Why does anyone doubt the private sector can do a better job than the government? Of course that is a topic for a different thread. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Kountzer Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 However, in this case the private sector is hollywood, & everyone knows two of the biggest liars known to mankind is hollywood and the government. So, we may never know the truth about this. DB Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Frederick Douglass
Amelia Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 We also know that Satan is the biggest liar. Guess who makes good use of this medium for passing on miss imformation?
