Disciple of YHWH Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 It is my belief that the whole Law of Moses(law of the Covenant/Book of The Covenant) was fulfilled/completed by Christ. I show this very belief with strong doctrine using the full sword of God. I ask that you take pains to read through everything that I have presented to you, not simply dismissing it out of hand(Proverbs 18:13) and providing lip service saying "Your wrong" or "no Proof here". I would love to discuss with anyone and everyone who Loves the Lord and wishes to compare doctrines to see which one agrees with scripture. The Fulfillment of the Old Testament Law Old Testament Law The Old Testament Law which was the Old Covenant Had many Names Handwriting of ordinances-Exodus 34:27; Nehemiah 9:13,14; 2 Chronicles 33:8; Exodus 18:20; Leviticus 18:4; 2 Kings 17:34,35,37,38 Law of moses-Joshua 8:31,32,34,35; Joshua 23:6; Judges 4:11; 1 Kings 2:3; 2 Kings 14:6; 2 Kings 23:25; 2 Chronicles 23:18; 2 Chronicles 30:16; Ezra 3:2; Ezra 7:6; Nehemiah 8:1; Daniel 9:11,13; Malachi 4:4 Law of the Covenant/Book of the Covenant- Exodus 34:27; Exodus 24:7; 2 Kings 23:21; 2 Kings 23:2,3,21 Book of the Law- Deut 29:27,29; Joshua 1:7-8; Deuteronomy 31:24,26; Deuteronomy 30:10; Joshua 23:6; Joshua 24:26; 2 Kings 14:6; 2 Chronicles 25:4; 2 Chronicles 17:9; Nehemiah 9:3; Nehemiah 8:1; Ezra 6:18; Nehemiah 13:1; 2 Kings 22:8-13 ; Psalm 40:7; 1 Samuel 10:25; Nehemiah 8:9; Joshua 8:31,31,34,35 By the Old testament law we were to follow every law contained within the book of the Covenant(Civil, Dietary, Ceremonial) if you failed to follow even one of these laws you were Cursed (Deuteronomy 27:26, Joshua 8:34, Deuteronomy 28:58-61; 2 Kings 22:13). A New covenant will be made:Jeremiah 31:31-34, Isaiah 28:10,13-19, Ezekiel 36:23-27,29-31 The Old Covenant will not stand:Isaiah 28:13-19 The New law will be written in their Hearts:Jeremiah 31:33-34, Ezekiel 36:26 On a Tried stone will this Covenant be Made:Isaiah 28:16 This New Covenant will give the People a New Spirit:Ezekiel 36:26-27 The New Covenant will be of the Promise of Faith:Isaiah 28:16 The Whole Covenant that was the Book of the Covenant would be Fulfilled:Isaiah 28:15,17 ____________________________________________ ________________________________ ____________________________________________ ________________________________ _____ The First covenant that was the Law of the Covenant was by the Flesh. It was not of the spirit(Galatians 4:23,24,25,28,29; Romans 7:17,18,19,21,23,24,25; Galatians 6:7,8,12,13), nor was it by Faith(Galatians 3:12; Romans 3:28), nor salvation( Romans 3:20, Galatians 2:16), nor was it a law of life(Romans 8:2), nor even was it a law of Righteousness(Romans 10:5 Romans 3:21; Galatians 5:10,11), the Law of the Covenant was none of these things. The law was not after the Promise of Faith Given to Abraham, it was given only because of Transgressions and to provide the way for Christ to come and fulfill the Promise of Faith, in fulfilling this Promise he made an end of the Law, completing it. Christ is the stone of the Foundation of the New Testament:Ephesians 2:19-22; Matt 16:17-18 The Stone which the Builders Refused is the Cornerstone:Psalm 118:22-23; Mark 12:10-11 Christ is the Stone the Builders Refused:Matt 21:41-46; Acts 4:8-12; 1 Peter 2:4-10; Romans 9:30-33 Christ is the Mediator of the New Testament:Hebrews 12:22-24, Hebrews 13:20-21, Hebrews 9:14-15, 1 Timothy 2:3-6, Hebrews 8:4-13, Hebrews 7:18-19,22-25, Hebrews 12:2, Matt 26:26-28, Luke 22:19-20; Mark 14:22-24 New Covenant is the Law of Liberty:James 1:,21,22,25; James 2:8,9,10,11,12 New Covenant is the Law of Life:Romans 8:2; Galatians 6:2; John 14:6 New Covenant is the Law of Righteousness:Romans 10:6; Romans 9:30 New Covenant is the Law of Salvation:Ephesians 2:8; Acts 4:12; Acts 28:28; Romans 1:16 New Covenant is the Law of Spirit:Romans 8:2; Romans 7:6,12,14,15,16,22,25; Romans 8:1,4,14; Romans 8:9,10,11,13,16 New covenant is the Law of Faith:Romans 3:21,22,24,25,26,27; Galatians 2:16; Hebrews 11; Christ Fulfilled the Whole Law of the Covenant:Hebrews 7:18-19,22; Luke 24:25-27, 44-49; Hebrews 9:14-15; Hebrews 8:4-13; Acts 13:38-41; Romans 10:4; Matt 5:17-20; John 19:30; Hebrews 12:2;2; Timothy 3:15, Hebrews 8:6-13 The New Covenant is After the Circumcision of the Heart and Spirit:Romans 2:28-29; Acts 15:7-9; Romans 10:8; Colossians 2:11-13; Philippians 3:3 Kingdom was taken from the Old testament Jews and Given to us:Matt 21:43; Romans 10:19,20; Acts 28:25-28 The Law of the Faith is the Promise of Abraham:Hebrews 11;Galatians 3;Romans 4(Reference) New testament Law(Fulfillment of the Old) Declared all the counsel of God(Acts 20:26-28) Be mindful of the words spoken by the prophets and the commandments of the Apostles and Christ(2 Peter 3:1-2, 15-18) Fully known the Doctrine, continue in things learned(2 Tim 3:10, 14-15) Laws of God (Rom 13:2,9-10) Established according to the Gospel and preaching of Christ(Romans 16:25-27) Fully preached the Gospel of Christ(Romans 15:19,29) Acknowledge things spoken as commandments of the Lord(1 Cor 14:37) Gospel received by Revelation of Christ(Gal 1:6-12) Christ the same today yesterday and tomorrow, so to is the word of God the same. (Hebrews 13:8-9) Keep the Commandments given by Christ(John 14:21,23, Matt 28:20) Holy word of God is of no private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20-21) Allegories for the Book of the Covenant in the New Testament (Frame of Reference) Old Husband-Romans 7 Yoke of Bondage-Galatians 5;Acts 15:10 Law of Sin and Death-Romans 8, Romans 6 Bondwoman-Galatians 4 School Teacher-Galatians 3 Handwriting of Ordinances- Colossians 2:14; ,Hebrews 9:1; Hebrews 9:10,11,13,23-28; Ephesians 2:15 Law of Moses- Luke 24:25-27, 44-48; Acts 13:39; Acts 15:5; Acts 28:23; Mark 12:26-27 Galatians 3-Promise of Abraham(Law of Faith in Christ), And the Schoolteacher(Law of the Covenant) 1. Cursed is every man who does not follow every law written in the Book of the law of the Covenant(Galatians 3:10,12;) that is why no man is justified by the law(Galatians 3:11). The just shall live by faith(Galatians 3:11,7-9), the law of Moses is not of faith(Galatians 3:12) wherefore we shall not live by the law which is without(Galatians 3:10,11,12,13,25), but live by the law which is of faith(Galatians 3:7,9,11). The blessing of Abraham that was by faith(Galatians 3:6,7,8,9,14) was given to us by promise(Galatians 3:8,14,16,22) the covenant that was the law, which came 430 years after could not disannul this promise(Galatians 3:17) for if our inheritance were to come by the law it would have made the promise of none effect(Galatians 3:18), but in Christ we know that promise was confirmed(Galatians 3:13,14,16,17) being made a curse for us he has redeemed us from the law(Galatians 3:11,13). The law was given because of transgressions (Galatians 3:19), until the seed of promise which is the Lord(Galatians 3:14,16) would come as a mediator(Galatians 3:19) of that promise(Galatians 3:,8,14,16,22,29). The Law of Moses was not against the promises of God(Galatians 3:21) but life could not come by the law(Galatians 3:21) so that before faith came we were kept under the law shut up in our faith(Galatians 3:23) by the law were the means to bring us unto Christ(Galatians 3:24) so that after faith had come by the promise which was christ(Galatians 3:13,14,16,17,22,24,26,29) we were no longer to be kept under the schoolmaster which was the mosaic law(Galatians 3:25) but instead are after the promise of faith which is the law of faith(Galatians 3:7-9,11,24,25;Romans 3:27). Romans 3-The Righteousness of the Lord is manifested without the Law of Moses 2. In the sight of the Lord no flesh is justified by the deeds of the law of moses(Romans 3:19,20,27) being witnessed by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of the lord is manifested without the law of moses(Romans 3:21,22,24,25) within the law of faith that we have received through christ(Romans 3:21,22,24,25,26,27), the law is not made void by our faith but is fulfilled by it(Romans 3:31). Romans 4-The Promise of Faith that is not by the Law of the Covenant 3. The promise of Faith given to Abraham was not given to him by way of the law, but by faith(Romans 4:3,5,6,7,9,11,12,13,16,20,21,22) that by the same promise of faith, which is Christ, we are justified by the righteousness of our faith and not by the works of the law(Romans 4:23,24,25) for if they which are of the Law be Heirs, then faith is made void and the promise of faith along with it(Romans 4:14,15). Galatians 4-The Bondwoman(Mosaic law) and the Free(Law of Faith) 4. When we were yet young we were held under teachers and schoolmasters(Galatians 4:2,3; Galatians 3:25) there was yet no difference between the child of the heir and the child of the servant(Galatians 4:1) but when the fullness of time had come God sent forth his son to redeem those kept under the law that they might be heirs, sons and daughters, with him through Christ (Galatians 4:4,5,6,7) we should not turn again to the bondage and the teachers that we were once under(Galatians 4:9,10,11;Galatians 5:1). There are two written after the allegory of the bondwoman and the free(Galatians 4:22,23,24) the child of the bondwoman was born after the flesh(Galatians 4:23,29) but the child of the freewoman was born after the promise to be received(Galatians 4:23,28). The First covenant which is bondwoman was that which was received at Sinai, the book of the covenant(Galatians 4:23,24) those who are the keepers of this first covenant are the child of the bondwoman(Galatians 4:25) the second covenant which is the freewoman was given by the Heavenly Jerusalem which is the mother of the free child(Galatians 4:26) we are as Isaac was, the children of promise, the children born of the freewoman(Galatians 4:27,28,31). The children of the flesh(bondwoman) that is to say the children of the book of the covenant persecute they which are the children born of the spirit(freewoman)(Galatians 4:29) . So just as before(Genesis 21:10) we must cast out the bondwoman, which is the book of the covenant (Galatians 4:23,24), and her son(those who keep the mosaic law)(Galatians 4:25) for they cannot be heirs with us who are the children of the freewoman(Galatians 4:30). Galatians 5-Yoke of Bondage(Mosaic law) 5. Whosoever followeth the law of moses is a debtor to the whole law(Galatians 5:3,4;Galatians 3:10,12) and christ shall profit them nothing for he will become of no effect unto them who keep the law of the covenant(Galatians 5:2,4;Galatians 3:11;Romans 3:19,20,27) for if even a little of the leaven that is the law of the covenant be kept the whole lump(which is our body and soul) will be brought to sin(Galatians 5:7,8,9) but those who follow the spirit are not under the law of Moses(Galatians 5:1,14,18,24,25) but are after the promise of faith which is Christ (Galatians 5:5,6,18,24,25;Galatians 3:13,14,16,17,22,24,26,29). Romans 7-Married to a New Husband 6. The law of the covenant hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth(Romans 7:1) just as a woman who is married to a man by law is bound to the husband as long as he liveth(Romans 7:2) that if a woman marry again while the first husband still lives she is in adultery(Romans 7:3). If the husband be dead the woman becomes loosed from the bond(Romans 7:2,3) and is free to marry another man and not be called an adulteress(Romans 7:2,3) in like manner also are we. For at first we were married to the law of the covenant(Romans 7:1) but so that we would not be in adultery we were made dead to the law of the covenant(Romans 7:4,6,8,9,10,11) by the body of Christ(Romans 7:4;) by the which we could be married again to our New husband who is Christ(Romans 7:4). By this way we are delivered from the letter of the Law of the Covenant(Old Husband) which was after the Flesh(Romans 7:17,18,19,21,23,24,25) and put under that Spiritual law that came by Christ(New Husband)(Romans 7:6,12,14,15,16,22,25). Galatians 2-Dead to the Law of the Covenant, By Our Faith in Christ 7. We are not to fall into the bondage of Circumcision which is by the law of the covenant(Galatians 2:3,4,5). There is no flesh justified by the works of the law of Moses(Galatians 2:16) if we now build again that which is of the law and keep it, that is to say put ourselves back into bondage, we become transgressors(Galatians 2:4,18) for if righteousness came by the law then Christ died in vain(Galatians 2:21). Now we who are of Christ are justified by our faith in Christ(Galatians 2:16) it is in this faith that we are dead to law by Christ(Galatians 2:19,20) through which now we also live by the faith which Is Christ(Galatians 2:20). Romans 8-Law of the Spirit, has made us free from the Law of Sin and Death 8. The Law of the covenant was weak by the flesh(Romans 8:3,1) and they that keep the law of the covenant are carnally minded(Romans 8:5,6,7), in so much that they are an eminity against God and cannot please him(Romans 8:6,7,8) for to be after the Flesh and the law of the Flesh is Death(the law of the Covenant is death)(Romans 8:6,13). The Law of the spirit of Life that is Christ has made us free from the Law of sin and death(Law of the Covenant which is of the Flesh)(Romans 8:2) that we who are of the Spirit walk not after the Flesh(Law of the Covenant) but after the spirit(Romans 8:1,4,14) are given a new spiritual mind not of the Flesh(Romans 8:5) in like manner also we are dead to Flesh by Christ, being raised up again in the Spirit(Romans 8:9,10,11,13,16,23) so that we will never again be put under the bondage that is in the law of the covenant(Galatians 5), nor yet even be put under the Spirit of Bondage that is by the Mosaic law(Romans 8:12,15,21). It is this Newness of Spirit, that comes not by the Law of the Covenant which is after the flesh(Romans 8:1,3,6,13; Romans 7:17,18,19,21,23,24,25), that we become the Children of God and Joint Heirs with Christ(Romans 7:16,17,21,23;Galatians 4:30) so we are now saved by the Hope and Promise of Faith which is Christ(Romans 8:24,25). Romans 6-Freed from the Law of sin and Death, being Born again in the Spirit Through Christ 9. We who are of Christ are dead in Christ(Romans 6:3,4,5,8) that we may be raised in the Newness of spirit,(Romans 6:4,5,8,10,11,13) our body of sin being destroyed, we are freed from sin(Romans 6:6,7) being made dead in the likeness of Christ, we are also made dead to sin(Romans 6:2,11,12,14,18,22). Those who are freed from sin are no Longer subject to the Law of the Covenant(Romans 6:14,15) but are now under grace(Romans 6:14,15). Now that we are made free from sin and the Law of Sin and Death(Romans 6:2,6,7,11,12,14,15,18,22; Romans 8:2) we should not again Yield ourselves to being servants of sin(Romans 6:16,13,20), but instead become the servants of righteousness(Romans 6:13,17,18,19,22) whose end is everlasting Life Through Christ(Romans 6:22,23). Romans 10-Christ is the End of the Law 10. Those who have submitted themselves unto the Law of Faith, have become partakers of the Righteousness of Faith(Romans 10:3,6,10), Christ is the End of the Law(Law of the Covenant) for righteousness sake(Romans 10:4; Matt 3:15) those who have faith and believe on Christ will be saved(Romans 10:8,9,10,11,13,17). Those who seek to follow the Law of Moses, do so without the Knowledge of the Law of Faith(Romans 10:2,3), for the righteousness that was of the Law came by keeping the whole law(Romans 10:5; Galatians 5:3,4; Galatians 3:10,12; Romans 3:19,20,27) but since no man could keep the whole law(Galatians 2:16) Christ fulfilled the law putting an end to the righteousness that came by keeping every ordinance contained inside the Book of the Covenant(Romans 10:4;Romans 3:21,22,24,25). Acts 13-Christ is the Fulfillment of the Law 11. Christ is the Fulfillment of the Promise of Faith after the Seed(Acts 13:22,23) John fulfilled what was foretold of him(Acts 13:24,25) the word of Salvation is sent to all peoples who fear God(Acts 13:26). By Denying Christ and persecuting him those who Sat in Moses's Seat fulfilled the words of the Prophets(Acts 13:27,28) once they had made an end of the things that were foretold to be done to Christ while he was yet living, they took him down from the Cross and buried him(Acts 13:29,30) then he raised himself from the grave(Acts 13:30,33-37;John 2:19-21 John 10:17-18). Now through Christ are we justified from the things contained within the Law of the Covenant(Acts 13:38-40). Galatians 6-Law of Christ is not of the Flesh 12. We should not now reap the things that were after the Law of the Flesh(Galatians 6:7,8,12) for not even they who are of the Law of the Covenant, which is after the Flesh, keep the law (Galatians 6:13). The things of the Law are Carnal, of the Flesh(Galatians 6:7,8,12,13) we who are spiritual(Galatians 6:1,15) reap spiritual things(Galatians 6:7,8,9) after the Law of Christ(Galatians 6:2). Even in the time of the Apostles there were sects of people rising up who taught contrary to the doctrine of the apostles, teaching people that circumcision of the Flesh was necessary as was the keeping the Mosaic Law(Acts 15:5,7,8,9,10,11). The Lord did not break the covenant he completed it(Matt 5:17-20, Colossians 2:14-15) the lord did not alter the words that he spoke but brought them to fulfillment(Hebrews 12:2, John 19:30). Strong’s Concordance-Greek-4137. Pléroó I fill, fulfill, complete.- 2. to render full, i. e. to complete;- b. to perfect, consummate;- c. to carry into effect, bring to realization, realize; α. of matters of duty, to perform, execute:- accomplish, complete, fulfill. From pleres; to make replete, i.e. (literally) to cram (a net), level up (a hollow), or (figuratively) to furnish (or imbue, diffuse, influence), satisfy, execute (an office), finish (a period or task), verify (or coincide with a prediction), etc. -- accomplish, X after, (be) complete, end, expire, fill (up), fulfil, (be, make) full (come), fully preach, perfect, supply) Strong’s Concordance- Greek-5055. Teleó T o bring to an end, complete, fulfill- 1. to bring to a close, to finish, to end: ἔτη, passive, passed, finished,- 2. to perform, execute, complete, fulfill- finish, accomplish From telos; to end, i.e. Complete, execute, conclude, discharge (a debt) -- accomplish, make an end, expire, fill up, finish,) That is the very definition of the word fulfill. Everything the Lord God Yahweh says shall come to pass, when he said the Old covenant will not stand(Jeremiah 31:31-34,Isaiah 28:13-19, Ezekiel 36:25-27,29-31), he meant it would not stand. When he said he would make a new covenant he meant just that, he would make a new covenant. The Old covenant lasted forever, Strong’s Concordance-Olam. 5769 Long time, time out of mind (past or future), i.e. (practically) eternity,)ancient time, lasting, -more, of old), lasting, long (time), (of) old (time), )) While the terms(Hebrew `ôlām or the Greek aiōn/aiōnios) may be translated “forever” or “everlasting/eternal” in English, both the Hebrew and Greek words derive their length from the nature of the object described. Hebrew and Greek words had multiple meanings and only by comparing scripture with like scripture and looking at the full picture of what is being said, can we see the words true meaning. The Book of the Covenant(Exodus 34:27; Exodus 24:7; 2 Kings 23:21; 2 Kings 23:2) was only for a time, that is why he said there was going to be a new covenant(Jeremiah 31:31-34, Isaiah 28:10,13-19, Ezekiel 36:23-27,29-31). That is why the book of law, written by the hand of Moses(Exodus 34:27; Nehemiah 9:13,14) was not placed inside the ark of the Covenant with the ten commandments that were written in stone by the finger of God Twice (Deuteronomy 10:2-5;Exodus 25:16; Exodus 31:16-18; Exodus 34:1), but were instead placed by the side of the ark( Deut 31:26) signifying that the book of law(the book of the covenant) was only for a time. I hope this has helped you to see the truth in this matter, that the whole Law of Moses was fulfilled by the promise of Faith that is Christ and that we are now under the law of Liberty and faith in Christ(James 1:21,22,25; James 2:8,9,10,11,12; Romans 3:21,22,24,25,26,27; Galatians 2:16; Romans 8:2; Galatians 6:2; John 14:6). I ask that you be as those in Berea and study what I have shown you with all readiness of mind, that you may renew your mind to prove what is that perfect and Holy will of God. Acts 17:11 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Romans 12:2 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. If you Disagree with what I shown you do not just provide lip service saying “Your Wrong” or “ No Proof here”, but Prove all things by the word of God alone, and with all long suffering of Doctrine. 1 Thess 5:21 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 2 timothy 3:16-17 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 timothy 4:1-2, 5 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 1 Timothy 4:13 13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. May the Blessings and the Peace of The Lord God Yahshua the Christ be upon you all Quote
Gustave Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 For the sake of brevity citing Colossians 2,16 , Acts 15, 28-9, Romans 14, 14-17 & 1st Corinthians 10, 27 would have got the job done. Instructions to Christians: "WHATEVER is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no questions for conscience sake". Instructions to Christians: "If any of THEM THAT BELIEVE NOT, bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go, WHATEVER is set before you, eat..." https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/Lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?strongs=G3956&t=KJV This is speaking of Pagans inviting Christians to dinner or a party (feast), it understood that Pagan's ate things practicing Jew's wouldn't think of touching. The Christians is told that "whatever" the Pagan host puts before them to go ahead and eat - with the caveat that if the pork, lobster or whatever it is was offered to an idol and the host makes a big deal of that then the Christian should abstain from eating, not because of the false god BUT because the host believes the idol is real. I agree brother every food is good to eat so long as it is sanctified by the word of God Prayer and thanksgiving(1 Tim 4:4,5,3; Romans 14:6,2,3,20,17,14,5; 1 Cor 10:30), without sanctification though it would be a sin to eat any food, since that is the only thing that justifies our eating it(Romans 14:6,2,3). The reason it is wrong to eat things offered to Idols has two main parts. 1. If we eat and it brings our brother to stumble or bring him to offence, it is a sin(1 Corinthians 10:29,32,25,27,28;Romans 14:21,20,24,13) 2. If we eat and it become evil spoken of, it is a sin(1 Cor 10:30;Romans 14:16) But the same can be said for any food our weaker brother deems unclean(such as pork, or shellfish), not just food offered to idols. Here a Short study on the New Testament Restrictions concerning diet Diet. Matt 15- Says that what goes into a man does not defile him(Matt 15:11,17) only that which comes out(Matt 15:11,18,19,20) he spoke in parables, that were shut up in their understanding to the people( Matt 15:15,16), so as not to break the law(Matt 15:15,16,10) none understood what he spoke. Mark 7- Any food/Meat that goes into a man does not defile him(Mark 7:15,18-19) only that which comes out defiles a man(Mark 7:15,20-23) he spoke in Parables that were shut up in their understanding to people(Mark 7:18-19) none understood what he spoke. 1 Cor 8- An Idol is not anything(1 Cor 8:1,4-6) and any food offered to idols is good to eat by a man who believes(1 Cor 8:1,4,7,10,11) it is only a sin to eat if it bring your brother who is weak in the faith to stumble(1 Cor 8:7,9-12). So long as a man believes and is strong in the faith then all meats/foods are good to eat, even if they are offered to Idols(1 Cor 8:1,6,8,13) for neither if we eat are we the better nor if we eat not are we the worse(1 Cor 8:8). It is only for our brother’s sake and conscience are we not to eat any flesh/meat(1 Cor 8:11-13) not by any law(1 Cor 8:8-9). 1 Corinthians 10- It was only after the law of the Flesh that was by the Book of the Law were we not to eat food offered to Idols(1 Cor 10:18). Paul says that Idols are not anything at all(1 Cor 10:19). Paul says that all foods are lawful to eat(1 Cor 10:23) but not all things are expedient(that is to say good for him)(1 Cor 10:23). He says that food offered to idols means nothing(1 Cor 10:19), but only for Conscience sake are we not to eat(1 Corinthians 10:25,27,28), not for our conscience mind you but for that our brethren both Jew and Gentile(1 Cor 10:29,32). Because if after we have sanctified our food with thanksgiving(1 Cor 10:30) it bring our brother to sin(1 Cor 10:30,32,29,28), or it be evil spoken of (1 Cor 10:30) we do not glorify God(1 Cor 10:30,31). Everything we do should be done for God's Glory (1 Cor 10:30) and for the betterment of our brethren(1 Cor 10:24,32,33). Acts 15- The Apostles said(concerning meats) that we should only abstain from meats offered to Idols, and from meats that were strangled, and meats with blood in them(Acts 15:19-20,28-29). They said that the Holy spirit WOULD NOT lay any Greater burden upon them(Concerning meats) than these things(Acts 15:28). The Apostles said that even in their time that people were rising up teaching to Keep the whole Law of Moses(but will only discuss the dietary portion) and the circumcision(Acts 15:24). That those who did so were doing contrary to their teachings(Acts 15:24). That is why they said what things were not okay to eat(concerning meats and any food really), and the only things they said were not good to eat were foods offered to Idols, meat with blood still in it, and meats that have been strangled.(Acts 15:25-29). Colossians 2- Since the handwriting of Ordinances which was the Mosaic law has been fulfilled in Christ(Colossians 2:14,15), no man can judge us in the foods that we eat(Colossians 2:16) because we are no longer subject to those ordinances that are of man(Colossians 2:14,20,21,22). Verse 20 says that we who are dead in Christ are no longer subject to the ordinances that command that we: Verse 21 touch not, taste not, or handle not any food that is deemed unclean: Verse 22 that all things we eat perish with the using: Verse 22 that these are only the doctrines and commandments of men: Verse 14 that were blotted out by the blood of Christ and taken away. Verse 23 says that those who do not touch, taste, handle do indeed have wisdom concerning the Neglecting of eating that which is not healthy for the flesh(for swine and foods like it are unhealthy for our bodies). But it says that we are not commanded to abstain by any Law. Verse 16: No man can judge us in what we eat: Verse 16 Neither can any man judge us for not keeping Holidays not found in the bible, there is only one day we are to keep(outside of Sabbath), neither can any man judge us for keeping the Sabbath(Saturday) men do judge us for keeping this day, and many more judge us for not keeping their holidays and their false days of worship(false Sabbath days) just as in the apostles day people judged them for not keeping the feasts and other holidays that were kept by the Jews and Pagans. 1 Cor 6- Paul says that we are washed and Sanctified(1 Cor 6:11) that we are justified by the Name of Yahshua the Christ and the Holy Spirit(1 Cor 6:11). Paul Says that all things are Lawful for him(concerning meats)(1 Cor 6:13,12) but not all things are good for him bodily(1 Cor 6:12). He says that meats/foods are for the Belly and the belly is for meats/foods(1 Cor 6:13) and that God will destroy both the body/belly and the Foods(1 Cor 6:13). Romans 14-Paul says that both, he who believeth and eateth all things(Romans 14:2), and he who is weak that believes he can eat Herbs(Romans 14:2), are just in the sight of the Lord since they both give thanks for the meat and herbs they eat(Romans 14:6,2,3) . So long as they are fully persuaded in their own mind(Romans 14:5,14). Paul says that we are not to judge a brother for the foods that he eats(Romans 14:4,3,10,13) , to do so is contrary to the law of Christ(Romans 14:4,8,10,13,15) . That instead we are to watch and not put a stumbling block in our brother's way by eating that which our brother deems unclean(Romans 14:13). Paul says that nothing of itself is unclean(Romans 14:14,20), that he himself is persuaded of this by the Lord Jesus Christ(Romans 14:14) . We are not destroy our brother(bring him to sin by his conscience) by eating that which he deems unclean(Romans 14:15,19,20,21). For even though the food is sanctified by thanksgiving(Romans 14:6) if our brother is brought to offence it becomes evil spoken of(Romans 14:16). The kingdom of God is not meat and drink(not what we eat)(Romans 14:17,18,20) but it is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost(Romans 14:17). We are to follow in the things that make peace with our brother(Romans 14:19,15,16,13) that we may edify one another(Romans 14:19) . Meat does not destroy the work of God(Romans 14:20,17,14) , all things(meats) are pure(Romans 14:20,17,14,5) if it is received with thanksgiving(Romans 14:6). It is only evil if that man that eateth the meat, eateth with offence to our brethern(Romans 14:21,20) and cause him to stumble(Romans 14:24,13) or the man eat without faith that the meat is clean(Romans 14:23). 1 Timothy 4- Paul says in the times to come people will be caught up by doctrines of devils(1 Timothy 4:1) that those who depart will have their conscience seared with hot irons(1 Tim 4:2) because they shall speak lies in Hypocrisy(1 Tim 4:2). Those people who had departed from the faith(1 Tim 4:1) will teach(as the Catholics do) that ministers cannot marry(1 Tim 4:3), and those departed will teach to abstain from Meats(1 Tim 4:3), Meats(that if they be received with thanksgiving and belief by them who know the truth of the word of God 1 Tim 4:3) that were created by God for us(1 Tim 4:3) to eat. For every Creature that God has made is clean only if it is received by thanksgiving and prayer(1 Tim 4:4,5,3). Looking at the full picture we see several things. 1. All food is made clean only by thanksgiving and prayer(1 Tim 4:4,5,3;Romans 14:6,2,3,20,17,14,5;1 Cor 10:30). 2. What we eat is not a sin if we are strong in the faith and believe that any food is okay to eat and not a sin(1 Tim 4:3; Romans 14:14,20,5; 1 Cor 10:23) 3. If we do not believe and we eat, then it is a sin(Romans 14:23,15,19,20,21) 4. If we eat and it brings our brother to stumble or bring him to offence, it is a sin(1 Corinthians 10:29,32,25,27,28;Romans 14:21,20,24,13) 5. If we eat and it become evil spoken of, it is a sin(1 Cor 10:30;Romans 14:16) 6. The kingdom of God is not what we eat(Romans 14:20,17,14,18) 7. All meats are clean so none can judge us in what we eat(Colossians 2:16;Romans 14:4,3,10,13) 8. All meats are clean(Matt 15:11,17;1 Cor 10:23,30;Colossians 2:16;Romans 14:14,20,5,6,2,3,17,14;1 Tim 4:4,5,3; Mark 7:15,18-19; 1 Cor 6:13,12) 9. We are to Abstain from eating meat with blood still in it(Acts 15:19-20,27-29) 10. We are to Abstain from eating meat that has been strangled(Acts 15:19-20,27-29 I hope that wasn't to long brother. If it was I can send you a shorter version. Quote
Gustave Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Yes, The prohibition of certain foods enjoined on Israel was to separate them from the surrounding nations - to keep them separate. You CAN'T be friendly with people you CAN'T eat with. The food laws being done away with after Christ's death and Resurrection was part of that "wall" which was removed by Christ. We appear to be in agreement and that the Council of Acts is speaking of the laws enjoined on Noah. Quote
