Should The Government Revise Marijuana Laws?

I have noticed that young people, when they start using, loose motivation, drive, and focus.  I have heard this from two friends, now very worried about their grandsons.  One young man actually completed his education at a military type academy - with honors.  Now he is lazy and useless.

THC is NOT a CNS depressant.  Google the question; and almost unanimously researchers will say it is not a VNS depressant.  If anything, it is a CNS stimulant as heart rate, Blood pressure, and respiration increases after smoking.  In fact, some research shows that THC is safe to take with opioids since it does not affect depress CNS.

I think this is a stereotype; and is no a general thing.  While a lot of "underachievers" might blame their loser status on weed, I also know several highly successful and wealthy people (like the surgeon Rachel mentioned above and Barak Obama) who are or have been  habitual stoners.

I'm not suggesting that marijuana use be celebrated; society certainly doesn't need another intoxicant.  I am saying that some form of national  legalization (or decriminalization) should be pursued.  While people should indeed be persecuted for driving while baked, they shouldn't go to jail for smoking a joint in their back yard.

I did not say it was a Central Nervous System depressant.  Different part of the brain is involved in MOTIVATION.   Research has shown that setting goals and achieving them brings satisfaction (happiness).  But if weed can stimulate satisfaction centers in the brain (much like chocolate) then why set goals (other than getting more weed)?

There are many things that are "legal" within the USA, that are NOT approved of God.  At present the US law code only prosecutes violations of 3 of the 10 Commandments - murder, giving false testimony, and stealing (over a certain amount).   Violations of written contracts (such as pre-nup contracts) may result in damages, but not imprisonment.   It is not illegal to be an alcoholic for instance.  It's just illegal to endanger others by driving under the influence.  

As Christians, our standard is set much higher than that of the US Law Code.   We know that our great Adversary is stalking us, looking for weakness to exploit.  Frequent pot smoking  may or may not turn out to create weakness - for an individual.  But at what cost, to find out.
