Validating Incidentals

There are many little details in the Bible stories, which one might not notice.  On closer examination, those details help to validate the stories.  

Hissop for example.  A mild little plant, which grows small flowers that last all summer.   Awhile back I was experimenting, trying to find something that flowered, that deer wouldn't eat.  I planted 5 different kinds in a bed one Spring, and the deer ate all but one right down to about an inch.   The only one they didn't eat, was the Hissop, except that I bought it by a different name.  When I learned that it was Hissop, I thought to myself.  That's interesting, that God would choose a plant for important ceremonies - like Passover and the Red Heifer sacrifice, that wild animals wouldn't eat.  

I would love to hear examples of such small details which validate the Bible stories.  I'm sure the students here can give many examples.

I'm hesitant to post this due to not having the reference to turn to, but in a class at the Seminary it was pointed out that one of the criticisms of the Bible was that a woman was "unclean" for a longer period of time after giving birth to a daughter than the time of "uncleanness" had she given birth to a son. It's been discovered that the woman's body takes longer to recover after giving birth to a daughter than a son, and that the recovery times are the same number of days that a woman was unclean after giving birth.

The "inn" at Bethlehem.   This last year, I heard a lecture about the famous "no room at the inn".    Why Joseph would choose to take his very pregnant wife with him on a long journey, is debatable.  I believe the LORD told him to do so.   Or perhaps he was afraid to leave Mary in Nazareth.  She might have been in great danger.  

Joseph was traveling to his ancestral home - where a slew of relatives would receive him.  The likelihood of his staying at a public "motel" is doubt-able - unless the relatives had also heard about Mary's questionable pregnancy.   The relatives probably had not heard about the pregnancy at all, and were not ready for a delivery - which would necessitate the mother being separated (unclean) for 2 months.   Where would they put her on such short notice!    The stable area - with clean straw - served nicely.

Compare the land area promised to "the Seed" of Abraham, with the base dimensions of the New Jerusalem.  They match very closely.   The New Jerusalem, when it descends to earth, will COVER that land area.   No more debating who owns that land.
