Out of curiosity- I just got an account with Myspace...

So far I have my daughter's friends as mine. Is there anyone else from here who would like to be my friend there?

My URL

And even though I am not a great blog enthusiast, I have started one there to monitor my fitness progress

Just an experiment

Hmm. I don't have a myspace, but I think Stan does! Out of curiosity, why are you listed as "single"?

I haven't done anything to my profile yet, so it must be the default. I was thinking this morning that I have to get on that, but I won't be able to until I get home from work today

I got one recently too, so you'll probably get a request from me soonish. I don't use it for all that much, but it's another way of keeping in touch with online friends.

One thing that I think it would be good for, is my job. A lot of bands have myspace accounts and they regularly send out bulletins

Toni and Gail, I liked your Myspace.com blogs. Thanks for sharing the URLs. It might be nice to pop in on both of you now and then.

Toni, I have to ask: HOW did you happen to read Ender's Game?? You list it as one of your all-time favorite books! I can't believe it, because that genre is very new to me. I had to read it [listen on audiotape, actually] for my book club. And I thought it was a little scary. A little "far out" to think of children being taken from their homes and forced to live in outer space all their lives; forced to be "soldiers" against some extraterrestrial armies.

The interesting thing to me was that my book club is all made up of Adventists [so IOW, many of us have never had such literature taught to us in our high school or college curricula]. The young[ish] woman who presented Ender's Game to our book club, however, did not attend Adventist schools. She LOVES Scott Card (or whatever his name is; the author of Ender's Game), and she reads everything he writes.

I couldn't get it.

Can you explain the fascination with that genre?

Hi Jeannie,

Well, My DH is a big reader, and he had been reading some science fiction books and enjoying them (we both love shows like Star Trek). For Christmas about 2 years ago, I had heard from a friend who loves science fiction how great Ender's Game was, so I bought it for DH. It sat for a while, and I ended up picking it up. I don't know exactly why I loved it...but it just captured me. I think I just really felt through the author's writing, the fears, pains, struggles of this little boy. The end was just painfully beautiful...and I think of all the series, the second book was my favorite, just because of the deep delving into someone's mind and heart, their thoughts and feeings..pain from the past-the desire to make things right. I don't know, I am just fascinated by those kind of things, why people do what they do and how they deal with it. Human nature-the human condition-fear of what we don't understand. I wish I could explain it better, but I've never been able to explain books or movies very well smile.gif.

I guess I should add that I wasn't raised an Adventist or attend Adventist schools smile.gif.

Woo hoo- got Todd Agnew and MercyMe as my friends <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm interested in keeping current with bands' news. I think this will help

I've also had other bands approach me, but I prefer Christian groups

I know also about Xianz.com but haven't tried that. Don't know if I have the time. A lot of Christian bands are on Myspace

Interesting

Did you know you can add music to your site? I think there's a music button up at the top to click, you type in what you're looking for, then you can choose to add to to your site. It will do it for you automatically! I have the new Mercy Me "So Long Self" on mine right now. I can't seem to get it to play automatically though..you have to click the play button. My sister's (and others I have seen) will start all by itself when the page opens. I haven't figured out how to fix it yet smile.gif.
