Amazing Facts to go Independent

For years, Amazing Facts has been an official ministry of the Northern California Conference.  Recently it has formally voted to become an independent ministry.  This is due in part to the fact that it has grown to an International organization, which has placed it far outside of the boundaries of a normal local Conference.  This change it expected to take place in 2019.  At that time the corporate name will become Amazing Facts International.

The Granit Bay congregation will continue to be a part of the Northern California Conference congregations.

It is expected that Amazing Facts will continue to operate in close communication with the SDA Church, but it will clearly be a  ministry that the SDA denomination does not control.

Wanderer:  Amazing Facts was officially an agency of the Northern California Conference (NCC).  As such the NCC had the legal right to control it.  The NCC could have given it whatever direction it wanted.  Whether or not the NCC ever did so in a different question.  I suspect that the NCC  gave it considerable freedom.

Once this change is legally put into effect, the situation will have changed.  Amazing Facts will have its independent Board.  The NCC will no longer be able to control it, whether or not it ever did control it.  

I will also suggest that once this change takes legal effect, that he  issue of legal liability of the NCC will have changed.  Prior to this change, as  I have understood it, the NCC would have understood it, the NCC could have been a party to any litigation against Amazing Facts.  I would assume that once this new change is completed, this liability will be substantially reduced.
