It was taken from an article, which will cite below, written by Gary Thurber, President of the Mid-America Union Conference. The article tells how, as a 12 year-old, he was involved, with other youth, in an outreach to youth in a program sponsored by the Texas Conference. The prayer above is that of Tom, who was praying for the first time. While this was not the focus of the article that Thurber wrote, it suggests to me that we can approach God just as we are and talk to God as we would talk to a friend.
