Moderators LynnDel Posted May 3, 2006 Moderators Posted May 3, 2006 http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=1914155&page=1 "Middle-aged Americans have a higher rate of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and lung cancer than their British counterparts, based on a new analysis of surveys and medical exams." The article states that Americans spend more on healthcare, Brits smoke more and drink more, and Americans are fatter. You would think we'd have the opposite result. Most of the blame in the article is placed on the American health care system, while only one physician refers to lifestyle as a possible reason. Interesting. LynnDel Quote LD
Amelia Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 To be honest, when I visited over there I never saw very many ubber fat brits like you do Americans. But I dont understand the lower rate of heart disease as they eat as much fried food as Americans. Weird. Moderators LynnDel Posted May 4, 2006 Author Moderators Posted May 4, 2006 Maybe they walk more, or have more regular vacations. I somehow think there may be more American couch potatoes and workaholics, but that's only an impression. LD Quote LD
