The GC Responds

In the following article, the GC has responded to critics of the Unity Document.

The comment in the above as to an infallible pope and cardinals along with the definition of doctrine by top theologians does not clearly reflect Roman Catholic belief.

Under Canon Law 749 & 750 infallibility is restricted to either the Pope when speaking ex cathedra or to when the College of Bishops is exercising its magisterium.

Outside of these two situations, as Canon Law 749.3 clearly states, no doctrine is to be infallibly defined.

It should be understood that Roman Catholic Apologists are well informed on the current discussions that are taking place in the SDA denomination today, as to unity and female ordination. In their specific comments to me, they find a comparison in Adventism to the College of Bishops and its magisterium along with the establishment of a creed in the so-called 28.

In my conversation with these Apologists, I am finding that there are other Christians who are better informed as to General Conference teachings and the writings of Ellen White than are many of our SDA members. Perhaps there are lessons in that that should stimulate thought.

Wanderer:  I looks like you have not carefully read my comment.

My comment was about one narrow part of the GC response.  It did not make any reference to the document as a whole.  It did  not in any manner comment on the document as a whole.

I expected that you and others would do such and so I left that  to you-all.
