Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 18, 2018 Moderators Posted October 18, 2018 When Hurricane Michael hit Tyndall AFB in Florida, every building was damaged and many were totally destroyed. Tyndall AFB has a mission to train F-22 pilots, with some 55 F-22s assigned to the base. An exact figure has not been released. But, it is believed that the Air Force, due to safety issues had to leave some 22 F-22s at the base. An example is the news photo you may have seen of an F--22 upside down on the ground. The replacement value of those 22 aircraft amounts to some $7,500,000,000! Yes, that is 7.5 billion dollars. That is only for the damaged aircraft. Oh, well, you and I, as tax-payers, will cover the cost in some manner. NOTE: Tyndall AFB has 11,000 military persons assigned, along with their families. Quote Gregory
