If Jesus was not put to death, would He had died ?

If the Jewish leaders had accepted Jesus as Christ and had not asked the Roman authority to crucify Him on the Cross, could Jesus die of natural causes such as sickness, disease or old age? Remember, Jesus Himself had never sinned, was it possible that He would never had died. Any ideas?

At the incarnation the Deity of Christ was mysterious blended with the fallen humanity He came to save. As God Christ couldn't die! Deity can't die, but humanity is mortal and will die.

1] Jesus came to take "the curse of the law"

2] "The curse of the law" is the 2nd death

3] The 2nd death is simply death with no hope of a resurrection. It is goodbye to life forever!

The death of Christ's humanity was inevitable because He came to a world under Satan's grasp, that is, Christ set foot in enemy territory. John tells us that, "He [satan] was a murderer from the beginning...."

The only reason that Christ was not murdered as a child is "His hour had not yet come". It was at Gethsemane that God the Father "delivered Him [Christ] up for us all". That is why Christ's humanity cried out, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt.”

All God had to do was remove from Christ His protection. As I said that began in the garden. But what "the world" did to Christ under its god, Satan, does not constitute the supreme sacrifice.

Jesus was completely dependent on the Father for everything. As Jesus said, "I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me." As man Jesus grew in wisdom and in knowledge. To do this Christ had to let go of the independent use of His Deity. As the 2nd Adam Christ was made like His brothers in all respects so that He could be a merciful High Priest.

You see the resurrection was known to Christ through His Father. That's why Christ could say, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up [He was speaking of the temple of His body]." [John 2:19,21] Again, Christ understood this through His Father.

Once God withdrew His protection of Christ, Satan went to work at murdering Christ. All the terrible things that Satan did to Christ, through the Romans & Jews, does not contribute one iota to our salvation. What saves us is what God did to Christ on the cross.

As I stated, in the garden of Gethsemane God the Father withdrew His protection of Christ, but on the cross God totally abandoned Christ. Let me quote EGW:

Quote:

He [Christ as man]
cannot see the Father's reconciling face
. The withdrawal of the divine countenance [God the Father] from the Saviour in this hour of supreme anguish pierced His heart with a sorrow that can never be fully understood by man.
So great was this agony that His physical pain was hardly felt….[:"Red"]The Saviour could not see through the portals of the tomb. Hope did not present to Him His coming forth from the grave a conqueror[/]
, or tell Him of the Father's acceptance of the sacrifice. He feared that sin was so offensive to God that
Their separation was to be eternal [ “the 2nd death”].
Christ felt the anguish which the sinner will feel when mercy shall no longer plead for the guilty race. [DA, 753]

Jesus had a purpose. He came to take away our sins. He wasn't just roaming around ladeeedaaaa.

John 1:29 "Behold the lamb of God.."

And you can read the rest in your bible:)

But, that was the plan of salvation-for God in the flesh to die to pay the price for man's sins, so that man could have the opportunity to be saved. If neither the Jews nor the Romans had put Christ to death, then still, somehow, Christ would have been put to death--not by natural causes, I submit--to pay the penalty for our sins.

Hi Yongttay, here's what came to mind.

Act 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as ye yourselves know; 23 him, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay:

Isa 53:9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand.

The Jews/Romans didn't cause Christ to die. It takes anywhere from 3 to 7 days to die on a cross. Jesus died day one! Why? Not only were His own people attempting to murder Him, His own Father had forsaken Him. This is what caused Christ to die.

When the hope of the resurrection forsook Him, He died. The mixture of blood and water was a sign of heart failure caused from the anxiety of His Father's abandonment. As EGW said, He died of a sorrow that can never be fully understood by mankind.

The Bible's prophecies about Jesus' death were certain to take place, although they contained certain conditional elements. For one thing, the Jewish leaders were not forced to reject Him. That was their own choice, not made by God. Study the prophecies of the prophet Zechariah, for instance. Apparently Jesus would have been executed by the gentiles even if the Jews had accepted Him. According to the prophecies, Jesus Christ had to die a sacrificial death, not a natural death, for sin. Remember, the Messiah was "the lamb of God," "the ransom for many," a sacrifice for our sins, whose blood had to be shed, not just simply a man who was to die in bed from an illness or of old age. Jesus was indeed a man who was born to die and that as a sacrifice to God on account of sin. (Study Romans 5:6; Hebrews 2:9-18; 10: 5-14; Revelation 5:9.)

However, as a human, simply by virtue of the fact that Jesus was descended from Adam through His mother, Mary, His body was certainly capable as any man's of growing old and of dying. (Study Romans 5:12-18.)

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Instead of asking "what if" we should be asking "why did Christ have to die"? Why couldn't God just say, "Hey, you guys are forgiven"?
