Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted November 1, 2018 Moderators Posted November 1, 2018 Do you understand that there may be more military personnel deployed to the U.S./ border than there are people in the current group that is traveling to the border? Is this the best deployment of our military? Do you understand that under the provisions of the law cited below, those deployed military can only be put to limited use? Quote O'Shaughnessy stressed that all the troops are in a support role for CBP under the "posse comitatus" law, which generally prohibits the military from civilian law enforcement, according to the Stars and Stripes report. JoeMo Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I heard on the news this morning that the caravan is breaking down. their numbers have dwindled from over 7,000 to less than 4,000; and the remaining 4,000 may split into 2 groups - one headed for McAllen, TX, and the other to Tijuana, MX. Many are taking advantage of Mexico's offer to resettle them there. May not need that many troops. Doesn't seem like the active military will be allowed to do much, anyways. Although I am a supporter of the current administration, I sometimes question their logic in decisions like this. That's probably why i'm not president. Quote
8thdaypriest Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Other caravans forming, need clear message - "You won't get in." The military will build tent cities to house all entrants requesting "sanctuary" - until their cases are adjudicated. No more "catch and release". All caught entering over fence - illegally - will go back as soon as their biometrics are taken. JoeMo 1 Quote 8thdaypriest

First of all, I doubt if we will need 15,000 troops to repel the caravan. Second of all, it will cost a heluva lot more money in the long term paying for these people's medical care, welfare, education, housing, food stamps, etc. than it will cost for a one-time deployment of troops. If we set a precedent of letting these people in, the people in this country who need it won't get it anyways - it will go to the caravan. 8thdaypriest 1 Quote
B/W Photodude Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 One of their problems with this asylum plan is that they have turned down offers from Mexico to give them asylum! Don't think you get to choose the richest country to have asylum in! I will be watching to see who has been funding this little adventure. It seems that one of the senatorial candidates has some to do with it. But who knows, maybe it is fake news. Moderators Bravus Posted November 3, 2018 Moderators Posted November 3, 2018 My tweet from a couple of days ago: Why is Trump moving troops to the border now? The caravan is over 1000 km away, moving on foot. It’s months away. I mean, we know the answer: the midterm elections. Is it ‘supporting the troops’ to exploit them for blatantly political purposes? phkrause 1 Quote Truth is important

Narcah Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 It looks more like an invasionary force to me. Marching towards a country’s border seeking asylum from yours while waving your own flag? Seems suspicious. Quote -Jason Youtube.com/narcah

The caravan is over 1000 km away, moving on foot. Estimated to arrive in December. Depends on how many "rides" they get. Takes time to set up "tent cities" (internment camps) for them - where they will be housed while waiting for their "cases" to be adjudicated. Besides - some 2000 per month are entering illegally NOW. Caravan is just a visible group. Those funding it are wanting to challenge the LAW. The USA law, provides stability and order (something lacking in the Central American countries they are "fleeing"). If the USA law can simply be flouted - pick and choose which ones you will respect - then we HAVE NO LAW. Our nation will fall apart, separating into areas with more or less law/order. We are already seeing this - with sanctuary cities and such. JoeMo 1 Quote 8thdaypriest
8thdaypriest Posted November 3, 2018 Posted November 3, 2018 Once the first caravan is stopped, and not allowed to "settle" in the USA, this will discourage more caravans. That's the reason for the military force. It's NOT just about THIS caravan. It is about preventing future caravans. It's a message that says, "We mean it!". More and more and more poor, uneducated illegal immigrants will mean: Crowded schools - need for teachers speaking several dialects. The taxes they may pay - WILL NOT cover the expense. Possibility of transmissible diseases like TB, measles, etc. etc. etc. (in schools and elsewhere) Crowded free clinics and hospital emergency rooms. Heavier use of all social services - draining public tax coffers. Food stamps, Child welfare services, housing, etc. etc. etc. Greater need for police due to immigrated gangs, and also to their having different societal standards. Illegal immigrants already in the US are costing billions. Low wage immigrant workers taking jobs from legal working taxpaying US black and Hispanic workers, (OR just pushing down wages, due to black market workers). 200 thousand "Anchor babies" - born in US 2017 - instantly citizens (thus preventing deportation of the parents) + chain migration = a whopping lot of Central Americans 1/3 of ALL Salvadorans in the whole world - now live in the USA. The USA needs to decide. What do they want? This is NOT ABOUT RACE. Would NOT matter WHAT COLOR they are. It's primarily about ECONOMICS. Secondly - it's about security (our health and safety). It's about law and order. The migrant caravans are fleeing countries in chaos, where the rule of law is weak or completely broken. Yet they want to force their way into this country, violating our law. Interesting. Europe has already learned the lesson - what happens when you allow a very large influx of poor, uneducated into your country - with different customs/language/standards. Chaos! Some believe it is Christian duty to share all that we have with the poor of the whole world - allowing them to move into our country if they so desire. (The "one world-ers" also wish to dilute American identity and values.) Others - like me - believe we need a balance between our benefit and theirs. Any "solution" should benefit BOTH us and them - not just them. Quote 8thdaypriest

Then let them voluntarily take these refugees into their homes like we did with the Cubans in the 1960's. If someone feels the burden to sponsor a refugee family, let them do so instead of forcing that burden on all American taxpayers including those that DON'T want these people here. There is a difference between this "invasion' and the "invasion" of Italians and Irish in the mid to late 19th century. Those people came to the U.S legally (more or less) with the intent of becoming Americans and contributing to the country. Many of these new folks are coming to take advantage of entitled social services offered in this country while retaining their own "separateness". Quote

IMHO, from the progressive globalists who are educating them and possibly funding them to confront the USA on this issue; possibly forcing a change of power - possibly even changes to the US Constitution. I just finished reading George Orwell's "1984 (again). It seems like he was about 35 years too early. He should have named the book "2020". Many of the nightmares described in that book are commonplace around the world now. In a One-world government - a liberal's dream - we will have arrived. 8thdaypriest 1 Quote
