Sabbath on Earth points us to Sabbath in the Kingdom where we will work six days and rest the seventh. Not all will be able to stop their work on Sabbath because of their duties in keeping the New Jerusalem running, but they will have another day to rest.

YHVH will not likely need a day to rest because he is not made of flesh and blood, but of energy.

I observe the Sabbath  mainly was blessed by God during the creation week. Many of the typical SDA arguments for Sabbath-keeping will not hold up under scrutiny. Sabbath observance is just one more cog in a Decalogue oriented system of salvation. None of the Sunday-keeping arguments will hold up either. The RC position, that the apostles observed the blessed sacrament on Sunday, thereby attesting its sacredness, is false.  They ignore the fact that the "breaking of bread" without the cup indicates a common meal. Indisputable observance of the blessed sacrament always mentions both the cup and the bread, not the bread only

Romans 14 is most likely discussing a dispute about the Sabbath between Jewish and Gentile Christians in Rome. SDA apologetics on this lengthy passage are unconvincing. The history of the church in Rome, considering the expulsion and return of the Jews, provides a convincing context for a dispute between these groups. The Anchor Commentary on Romans, despite other weaknesses, does have a informative sketch of the early  history of Jews and Christians in Rome.

The Sabbath tract connected to Rachel Oakes Preston and Bates, when I read it years ago, shocked me, even then, for its legalistic perspective. The Sabbath was given in Creation. There was no Decalogue or Moses then. It was never taken away.
