B/W Photodude Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Washington Adventist University’s Praise-Dance Team is on Fire! Vespers was never like this when I was in college! Here is a commandment/law given to God’s ancient people against adopting the worship customs and pagan practices of the Canaanites. During the worship of Molech, the Canaanites had these huge, elaborate, spiritualistic ceremonies which included fire, loud hypnotic drums with shouting and singing. Despite the warnings, God’s ancient people did become like the world and embraced the fire of Molech: “A bedlam of noise shocks the senses and perverts that which if conducted aright might be a blessing. The powers of satanic agencies blend with the din and noise, to have a carnival, and this is termed the Holy Spirit’s working” (Selected Messages, Vol 2, p. 36). http://adventmessenger.org/washington-adventist-universitys-praise-dance-team-is-on-fire/ Quote >>>Texts in blue type are quotes<<< ***************************************************************************** And therefore as a stranger give it welcome. B/W Photodude Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 So, we had the "praise-dance" team at Washington Adventist University, but now at Southwestern Adventist University it is not even pretend to be worship anymore when they had a swing dance party: http://adventmessenger.org/southwestern-adventist-universitys-1950s-swing-dance-party/ Over at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5m0cQ0bU-8 Quote >>>Texts in blue type are quotes<<< ***************************************************************************** And therefore as a stranger give it welcome. JoeMo Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Call me a heathen, but I didn't have a problem with the 50's dance party video. The praise team video was a little (well- a lot) over the top. Not appropriate for a worship service IMHO. The KISS video at the end rocked! To me, there is a difference between what happens in formal worship in church and what happens at a party or a concert. Historically, dancing was unacceptable in SDA circles. It is also spoken against in Testimonies. However, given that David is recorded as dancing, I suspicion there was a serious difference from the music he danced to and a 50s style dance party music. But even if David did dance, does not mean it is acceptable. Don't forget he had many wives but you would be in a difficult position to advocate polygamy just because David did it. My concern here is that an institution of the church is allowing this to happen. It does not make a good impression of the church. The church can have a bad reputation in some communities. And the timing couldn't have been a whole lot worse: The Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America has just recently finished a 10-day season of prayer and revival. This spiritual feast took place from January 9-19, 2019 in churches all across North America. [1] Thousands of people have been praying for unity, for the Holy Spirit and for spiritual revival. While the 10-days of prayer were being conducted Southwestern Adventist University decided to throw a 1950’s Swing Dance party on January 12, 2019, during the middle of the prayer event. See the video above. How wonderful. This is exactly what we need in a time of spiritual crisis – a rock-n-roll event. When God says to weep and mourn because of the conditions taking place both in the world and in the church, it’s not time to swing and dance. FWIW, I have a very large collection of CDs including blues, rock, and other forms of music, but would not wish to see the performers at a church or educational institution. JoeMo Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 "a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance," Eccl. 3:4" "I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt. Again you will take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful." Jer. 31:4 "Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow." (Jer. 31:13) Quote

We still have no idea what "dance" is from the Bible, even with all the quotes. Another example about NOT being Biblical, even though many scripture quotes are proffered as "evidence." As if anyone does not know those texts are there! Proof-texted dance doctrine has been around a long time. But I am pretty sure that "dance" in Bible times, was something totally different than "dance" now. Those who want to investigate it in depth, I am sure will. The Scripture quotes weren't mine, but they were good. They actually weren't whipping anything, just suggesting there is a time for joy and celebration. While we have no direct evidence of what dance in David's time may have been, we can only go by certain moral principles to determine what the form of dance might take. I suspicion that much of modern dance violates the moral principles of the Bible. Dance as depicted in the YouTubes seemed to be more of an appropriate celebration dance. JoeMo Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 B/W - loved the videos! Yes; I would call that appropriate dance. As far as David dancing, it appears that he danced right out of his clothes in public! " And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. ... Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! ... And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death." (2 Samuel 6:14-23) Didn't work out well for Michal. A king or president dancing naked or nearly naked in public would hardly be acceptable today, especially if it was to the Lord. Maybe it was back then? B/W Photodude 1 Quote

We have such weird attitudes towards being naked today, and it is even getting worse. Isaiah was once ordered and is said to have preach naked for three years. I have reason to believe that God never commands anyone to do wrong. Saul, once when disturbed about something, was found to be sleeping naked. The onlookers ask, "Is Saul one of the prophets?!" So, was it usual to see the prophets without their clothing? Gets really weird today. Women run around in those micro-bikinis with only a string covering strategic parts. Men/boys are now wearing shorts from waist to knees (board shorts). I call them burqas for men! It used to be common for men to wear speedos. Not today. You risk public shaming if you showed up in one. It is like men are being required to disavow anything that may suggest they are men. The reason I ask is because IMO this topic, this kind of topic, gets worse when we do not pay close attention to how we frame things and yes; <G> Reminds me of a meme I saw recently. It went something like this: Good morning, Snowflakes! What are we offended about today? </G> These days people get offended by EVERYTHING. Some people are even offended that white men are even alive. Others are offended by SDA republicans. You cannot please anyone anymore! They are even trying to make a law against using the pronouns he/she in California. I am weary of it all! Holman's Bible dictionary describes an ephod as a "rather simple linen garment, possibly a short skirt, apron, or loincloth" - likely to expose David's butt and "manhood" of he was dancing with all his might. Kinda like a woman going "commando" in a short skirt. 16 hours ago, B/W Photodude said: We have such weird attitudes towards being naked today, and it is even getting worse. Personally I think we need to say to ourselves, how would Jesus handle this? As christians shouldn't we think that way? Isn't that the reason christians were called christians, because they followed and did what he did? I think the purpose here is to force everyone to cooperate with this gender bending movement going on. Part of the problem is, sometimes when these people get to cross dressing and lines starting getting blurred, they are asking people to just know what the intent is and if someone says the wrong thing, they are in trouble. It doesn't get anymore crazy than the case in England where a woman called a man pretending to be a woman "sir". She was arrested and when the article was written, she was in jail. Any way you look at it, it is evil thru and thru. I think these gender benders need to lighten up and just deal with it instead of throwing these huge tantrums. phkrause 1 Quote >>>Texts in blue type are quotes<<< ***************************************************************************** And therefore as a stranger give it welcome. Aliensanctuary Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Did Jesus Christ or his disciples dance as an act of worship? Recall, worship is a demonstration of our subservience to our Creator. True worship is falling down before one who is vastly more powerful than ourselves, not the entertainment falsely called "worship" becoming more and more popular in churches today. I can picture the "12 Disciples Dance Troupe" performing in the Temple courtyard among the moneychangers and bleating\mooing\cooing sacrificial animals.
