Reading this literally, this mark is given by the beast (who will be human), and its main impact takes place in the marketplace here on earth; not in the supernatural realm.  You either have the mark or you starve.

As far as the Chinese "social credit" mark is concerned, if your social "credit score" is too low for you to be allowed to travel, how much more effort would it take for you to be prohibited from buying or selling - especially in a country with a cashless society (which China is quickly becoming)?

I'm not saying that China's "social credit score is the mark of the Beast, but it does indicate how - with today's technology - it would be possible to implement such a system; and some societies my be on their way to implementing it.  Not trying to set a "time" or a date.
