Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 25, 2019 Moderators Posted March 25, 2019 The following is a simple equation that may be solved in your head, simply be thinking about it. If the following equation is accurate, what is the value of X? X x X = 3X NOTE: x is the multiplication symbol. Quote Gregory

Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 25, 2019 Author Moderators Posted March 25, 2019 JoMo did it the exact way that I did it in my head: I divided each side by X as was left with: X=3. Quote Gregory
Planey Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 X x X = 3X X x X - 3X = 0 X ( X - 3) = 0 X = 0 or X = 3 Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Moderators Bravus Posted March 26, 2019 Moderators Posted March 26, 2019 Planey's gone with the maths-teacher answer. ? (which makes sense) I see this simple equation, and that answer to it, informed Simple Equation #2. I think I'd tend to do this one as X2 = 3X then X2/X = 3 and X = 3... which wouldn't give me the X = 0 answer. Quote Truth is important
