Is it me or is the news more....um..bad?

Ok, I admit to not reading/listening to the news of late. I mean, it's ..depressing... Where is there hope in the world? Are we doing anything right? Where is the justice for ALL MEN, and not just for a few select?

Consider the following stories pasted from Google news-

The two bills still have to be merged into one. ... [/] Ok, I can see the reasoning behind this, but who is going to set the standard for what is decent? And wouldn't that tend to cause other problems as to what is funny and what is not?

While I am glad that this is coming, but should this have been done YEARS, even DECADES ago????

Okay, that is why I am not the political slogan master...

Ah, another embarrasing story to slide the US crediblity factor down another notch...Where is our credibiblity located at now, sub-basement level of where you are standing?
