CATHOLIC SCHOLARS ACCUSE POPE FRANCIS OF HERESY CONCERNING MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY

The signatories of the open letter, which include clergy, argued that Francis’ refusal to clarify his teachings on marriage, divorce, and Holy Communion in Amoris Laetitia, and what they see as his inappropriate handling of the sex abuse crisis constitutes heresy. The letter exhorts bishops to investigate the claims of heresy against Francis and, if they find them valid, to admonish him to renounce those heresies or remove him from the papacy.

I have read a number of articles suggesting there is a conspiracy within the Vatican to ... well ... assassinate the current Pope. Strangely enough, that was even said about John Paul I, who only managed 34 days as pontiff.

I wouldn't be surprised.  For centuries, the papal church has been at odds with the Jesuits on certain points of theology and church administration.  Now, suddenly the RCC has a Jesuit Pope.  There are probably many older "traditional" Catholics (including some of the church hierarchy) that have a problem with that.  I'm sure many conservative Catholics felt the same way about Pope John XXIII after the decisions of Vatican 2 were implemented in the 1960's.
