Utility Discounts Can Continue

Many reading here probably received some discounts when you signed up for bundled services.  As an example, we receive the following services from ATT, all of which originally  came with some limited time discounts:

*  TV

*  Internet

*  Landline telephone service.

NOTE:  We have cell phone service from Google Fi, rather than ATT, as I am a fan of some of what Google Fi does in  their service.

With all of the above, the time comes when the discount expires and a charge goes up.  What many do not realize is that these companies who bundle such service along with time-limited discounts, continue to give discounts to customers who remain, if they request such.  These continued discounts are typically handled by their Customer Loyalty department, and not the ordinary billing people.  They are only available to people who ask for them after a discount has expired, not before.

We noted on our ATT bill this month that a discount had expired and our bill had gone up by some $25 per month.   So, my wife called the Customer Loyalty department in ATT ,stated that this $25 discount had expired and asked what other discount was available to us.  We were immediately informed that there was a 12-month $30 per month discount available to us, which we accepted.

She then asked for a listing of our other discounts along with the date that they would expire.  She was given such and now knows when to call back and get new discounts for remaining with ATT.

NOTE:  There have been times, in the past, when we had another provider, where we were simply told that we would need to change the billing name, between my wife and I.  By doing that, each time we changed the billing name, were would get the same discounts as a new customer.

My point is:  While the various providers may slightly differ as to how they do it, If you ask, the Customer Loyalty department  will likely be willing to continue to give you discounts, in order to keep you as a customer.
