Those interested in an oral history of the events leading up to Glacier View can view the YouTube series by Gillian Ford. Previously listed as GV1, GV2,GV3, etc. Some items of interest:

Four opponents of Dr. Ford are listed by name. Herb Douglass and Kenneth Wood on the East Coast. Morris Venden and Erwin Gane on the West Coast. [ After GV Dr. FordĀ  described Gerhard Hasel as "my nemesis"]

There was strong, organized opposition to Dr. Ford well before his sermon on the investigative judgement. Morris Venden employed the PUC church pulpit to attack Dr. Ford's views on righteousness by faith before the Forum presentation. A "mole" in the PUC religion department sent Dr. Ford's speaking schedule to outside interests who blanketed the scheduled churches with opposition literature.

Fred Veltman told Neal Wilson, at Glacier View, that he was in agreement with Dr. Ford. Neal Wilson said it was fine, as long as he didn't talk about it.

Dr. Gane was ultimately fired by the PUC administration and spent several years living by the "sweat of his Frau." Around 1988, Donald John, the church history professor, went on leave. Even though Dr. Gane lived in Angwin, had a Ph.D. in church history and was unemployed, the religion department refused to let him teach a church history class on a contract basis. Instead, a librarian with a year of undergraduate church history 20 years prior, was selected to teach upper division church history. The hatred of Dr. Gane was so strong that his former colleagues would preferĀ  seeing him impoverished and the students cheated to letting set foot in a PUC classroom again. The PUC administration, during Dr. Ford's tenure, advised Dr. Gane to accept a call that would have taken him away from PUC . Dr. Gane didn't realize the jeopardy he was in, declined the new job offer, and spent several years unemployed, more or less. The story has a happy ending because he ultimately became the Sabbath School Quarterly editor; nevertheless, he passed through some dark years.

Personally, I learned more about hermeneutics from a visit to Dr. Gane's home than I learned from most of the theology/religion classes I took at PUC.

Dr. Ford responded to criticism that he wouldn't take counsel from the brethren at GV by saying that he had heard and discounted their counsel i.e., they brought nothing new to the table.
